Tony Bennett Retired at UVA -

Three weeks before tipoff. He's a great coach and 55 years old. Hope this is nothing more than being sick of the current college environment.

It's either due to NIL and the transfer portal, or he needs immediate surgery because he left his heart in San Francisco.
Oh, it's the former:

"...name, image and likeness money and the transfer portal have brought elements to the job that he’s “not great at.” I looked at myself and I realized, I’m no longer the best coach to lead this program,” Bennett said with athletic director Carla Williams seated next to him. “If you’re going to do it, you’ve got to be all in. You’ve got to have everything. And if you do it half-hearted, it’s not fair to the university and those young men. That’s what made me step down.”
Good for Bennett for admitting he doesn't have the skill or desire to play the game as it has to be played now. We'd have been a lot better off if a couple of our coaches had decided the same thing.

Didn’t know he signed a 6yr extension in June.

David Shaw did decide the same thing (or he recognized he was no longer the right person to lead our program). Are you referring to Haase?
