I get the point, but the quote is missing the context of the negatively framed question that was asked. Given the question, I don't think there was much else Sinclair could say, short of attempting to gaslight the audience (a la Shaw). His point was not that the team is great now but that the talent exists and the development trend is positive (in ways that are harder to see from the outside.) He wants the young guys to believe that they will have the opportunity to be on a good team if they keep trusting the process that the coaches are leading. Sinclair is showing commitment and leadership in the face of a tough situation.

Sure, the point about the young guys is a detail that Sinclair didn't necessarily need to provide, but it's kind of an obvious detail and one that speaks to his leadership role on the team (which the question specifically referenced.) I don't think his response indicates anything more than is already obvious about the self-doubt that the players are experiencing. If anything, it makes me feel better that Sinclair is continuing to do his best to help his younger teammates keep the faith.

If you're really, really bored/obsessed, check out Clawson's presser. He spends the first three minutes bemoaning a close win. 

He's able to articulate a standard for his team in a way that I don't think I've heard from Taylor.

Clawson on the 23-20 win over UConn (which has a respectable record of 4-3):

A coach's presser means next to nothing. But the contrast in tone here does not exactly boost my confidence that Stanford will pull off the upset.

It's a short distance from self-doubt to doubt in the system. The team seems to have arrived at the self-doubt stage, if we're to believe Sinclair and I have no reason not to trust him. Point is, we'll know soon enough about doubt in the system (read: TT). Even if Stanford remains an underdog the rest of season, which is not unlikely. It's depressing to write these words. I've seen more crap football in the past five-out-of-six years than I can stand.

Nothing will turn around the doubts and the self-doubts more quickly than a win.
Especially at home.
Especially if in conference.
Doesn't matter that the opponent isn't highly ranked.
The consequences of the other outcome would further worsen the situation, as a polite way of putting it.
As such I consider this a h.uge game in the trajectory of our team, our players' confidence, our coach, our recruiting, our ... (ad infinitum)

Highly doubtful. The only players that TT mentioned as having a chance to return this Saturday were Edwards and Morris (though he might have been thinking specifically about the DBs.)

People said he was still in a boot on the sidelines last Saturday.
