Once again, I am streaming tonight’s WBB game on a computer. I’d like to watch it on my iPad while cleaning up after dinner. But ESPN says I’m not authorized. Despite what’s happening in the next room. Short Disney. Usual disclaimers.

Sometimes the stations are tied to a specific network...are you on more than one network at home?

Not sure what you mean. I subscribe to Fubo.tv and espn+. Along with a few others. If you can explain why I can stream it on a computer but not my iPad (same network, we only have one), I’d appreciate it.

Sorry, can't help. We have multiple networks at home for a variety of reasons. Some sports programming will only allow you to watch on a specified network, I've found.

I think Mick might mean multiple wifi networks in your house and are the two devices running on the same wifi network

That's what I meant. I signed up for my programming using a specific network. Some programs demand that I actually use that network. They won't run the programming if I use another network.

I tried watching the games on ESPN through our paid Disney subscription and kept getting blocked - and its my impression that that particular version of ESPN doesn't carry the ACCnx channel. I gave up and re-upped our Sling subscription, which has been very reliable so far. Unfortunately it doesn't allow for taping the ACCnx games.

We have eero mesh. Uses the same SSID as the router. But with DHCP it assigns 192.168.4.* instead of 1.*. IIRC i changed to manual IP, DNS but that didn’t fix the problem.

It shouldn’t care what private IP (v4 or v6) you use(given out by your router’s DHCP, behind a NAT), or the wifi name (SSID). It probably only cares what public IP you are using.
By any chance, do you have multiple ISPs or did you get a range of IPs from your ISP?
At least on SLING, if you try to watch any of the Orange(?) channels on two different devices, it will kick you off the first. I presume that policy is dictated by ESPN. So you can’t watch ESPN2 and ESPNU on two separate devices (and I bet you can’t watch them in two instances of the app on the same device, but I haven’t tried that)

We have one external ip. And one isp. This is an ESPN fail.

ESPN and Fox contributed to the death of the PAC-12.

There are lots of guilty parties, but it is clear that the television networks endgame is to shunt the most desirable college football teams into the SEC and B1G, and really all that’s left to pick off is Florida State, Clemson and Miami.

Most sports broadcasters now block screen captures of games. Luckily for the folks here, I have a solid workaround. Helps to have a wife who is a video semi-professional.

Absolutely. Did you know that the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (a higher ed accrediting group) is nothing more than a bunch of university presidents.

I would have thought pushers and users would be a better match.
In either case, what is the role of fans?

No question we are complicit; it doesn’t clearly fit my anaology (but that relationship is a bit like addicts and dealers).
