Hickman commits for 2026. The first pubic commit. 3 to follow

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - paloalto - 04-18-2025

Fantastic, 2026 should be a very good class.  All the rumors about Hickman quitting volleyball and de-committing from Stanford were false.   Such an early admit may indicate it was a no-brainer for admissions.

Update: Her instagram says she has a spine injury. I don't know what that means.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - paloalto - 04-21-2025

Joy Udoye's (6'2" OH, 2026) club profile says she is verbally committed but it doesn't say where. Approach touch is 10'7"; that's pretty good for a high school junior.

Both Udoye and Hickman's teams are scheduled to play in the Lone Star National Qualifier this weekend.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - paloalto - 04-23-2025

Update:  It's looking more and more likely WVB will be allowed more than 19 players on the roster.

https://frontofficesports.com/house-ncaa-judge-roster-limits/

"On Wednesday, Northern District of California Judge Claudia Wilken threatened to reject the landmark House v. NCAA settlement after months of deliberation and a lengthy objection process over the issue of roster limits. She said that the parties have 14 days to figure out how to ensure athletes don’t lose roster spots as a result of the settlement—or else."

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 04-23-2025

Right now Stanford plans to have 17 this coming season and 18 next 2026 season. I’m guessing the 17th is McDowell who might be in a two year grad problem.
This from the banquet

Simone Roslon commits for 2026 per her instagram

University of Florida OPP Kennedy Martin (6'6", AKA KMart) is in the transfer portal.  Rumor has it she is asking for $1mil+ in NIL.  Does Stanford WVB have enough NIL resources to bid for her?

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - Jskass - 05-02-2025

Wow - for volleyball. Team chemistry a consideration?

Coaching change at Florida + ???.  She is from Wisconsin and so the home-towners are hoping she'll transfer to the Badgers - we'll see, $$$ talks

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 05-02-2025

Interesting thought but no on $1 million. It’s not there

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - M T - 05-02-2025

Speaking of team chemistry and pay-to-play, I suspect that unequal payments and perceived failure to practice and play hard will be a problem for teams.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 05-02-2025

Except they aren't thus far. Sorry

The Tennessee quarterback, eg?  Because "chemistry" is so nebulous it is impossible to even know whether a team's underperformance is due to "lack of chemistry" or something else (a star player's low grade injury for example), and whether that "bad chemistry" was caused by NIL or not.

There were some rumors of bad chemistry a couple years ago on our WBB team.  I don't think anyone has pointed at  NIL as a contributing factor, but we definitely did have a couple stars who received NIL payments.  Did other players resent them?  And if they did, would they say so?

Brink and Jones and I presume agents worked their own contracts not lifetime cardinal. I believe the chemistry problem was not NIL

There are rumors about Sellers on the mbb team

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that the NIL payments came from lifetime cardinal.  Just that if you have a player making several hundred thousand dollars from a national advertising campaign for a major company, and others who aren't, it can be a source of friction.  And again, I hadn't heard rumors that whatever rumored chemistry problems were due to NIL, just that such things are difficult to assess.

Is there friction when Steph Curry makes $50 million/year and Pat Spencer makes 6 figures on the Warriors? College sports is essentially professional now...

KMart announced transfer to Penn State today.  Rumor going around deal is for $1.44mil  for two years.   I don't know if I believe that but there were rumors from various posters on a volleyball thread for the past week indicating total offer would have to be over $1mil.
