ESPN Football Mascot Rankings - Papa John - 07-24-2025
According to Ryan McGee, the Stanford Tree comes it at #4 in the Costumed Division of his college football mascot rankings:
5. Keggy the Keg, Dartmouth
4. The Stanford Tree
3. Big Red, Western Kentucky
2. Brutus, Ohio State
1. The Duck, Oregon
In terms of 2025 opponents, the Georgia Tech Buzz in the Ramblin' Wreck comes in at #2 in the Mechanized Division. Hawaii's Vili the Warrior, Florida State's Osceola and Notre Dame's Leprechaun are #5, #4 and #1, respectively, in the Human Division.

personally, i have no problem with Puddles being ranked #1 (although i've heard that he's no longer officially called Puddles).

One of the few fights I was in as an undergrad happened after UGA beat the living crap out of Tech at Grant Field my freshman year. They were coming off a national title. We had beat #1 Alabama to open the season and promptly lost 9 straight. Then this. I think Lindsay Scott went 80 yards for a TD on the second play and it was downhill from there. Our frat had an English Bulldog, Cooper. Some drunk jibroni from Athens thought it would be fun to steal Cooper off our front porch. We (to paraphrase Walter from the Big Lewbowski: 'we're drunker than you dude') beat those jibroni senseless using shovels, pick axes, and fists right out on 4th Street NW. It was quick. Good thing too, since Ace ran upstairs to grab his ninja throwing stars. The jibroni might have been killed.
Sometimes I forget how much we hate those guys. Screw UGA.

As long as we're promoting cage matches, I'd like to see Hawai'i's Vili the Warrior take on Notre Dame's leprechaun...incidentally, Vili is Vili Fehoko the uncle of former Stanford WR Simi Fehoko.
