I'm getting notifications of PMs sent years ago - cardcrimson - 10-05-2025

Over the last few days, I'm getting a slew of email notifications about new PMs sent to me. I go to the site, and there are none. I look at the notifications and the text, and the PMs are from years ago. Anyone else seeing this?

Yep, same. I assume this is some sort of board software glitch. Seems like we're rapidly catch up to the present, though.

Yes, this is some glitch. I am getting them too. Probably some unexpected side effect from cleanup that George is doing to prepare for moving the board to a new hosting site.

I’ve gotten over thirty email notifications replying to entries that I have added to threads going back to 2022. Could we get a status report on this problem?

You think you have it bad? Imagine us mods who also get messages (and now ressurrected zombie messages) for every single reported post...

I let George know via email in case he wasn't aware.  He's doing a lot to get ready to cut over to the new hosting service.

turns out I had gotten one of these notifications two days ago, but it was routed to my SPAM folder.

Hey all,

I'm not sure why you're getting PMs for old messages.  Apologies as the timing does seem to be related to the host migration.  In the short term, does it work to disable email notification in the user cp?

Actually it looks like the notifications are coming from the new server that's in the process of being set up. (It has a copy of this one's message database for testing.) So don't bother changing things here to try to stop them. We'll get it fixed on the new server.
