Stanford fined $50K by ACC - chrisk - 10-19-2025

The ACC on Sunday fined Stanford $50,000 for violating the league's event security policy after fans were on the field following the Cardinal's 20-13 home win against Florida State.

According to the ACC, the violation occurred "when fans entered the field of play" after the conclusion of Saturday's game before Florida State personnel and officials left the field

All fines collected under the policy go to the Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship Fund, which benefits ACC student-athletes pursuing graduate education.

All right now!!!
This is a clear indication that the Andrew Luck era is showing signs of success.
It’s been a while since fans have had a reason to storm the field, and even longer since there were enough fans in the stadium at the end of a game for anything resembling “storming the field” to be perceived as actually happening.
$50K won’t make much of a dent in the Bradford Freeman fund…

Can't wait to see how many Stanford student-athletes will be runner-ups when these awards are announced.....

Screw the ACC.

I was watching from the stands. That's like $200 per student who did it.

We could have offered each student $100 to stay off the field and saved some money.

I thought about that fine, but it seemed like the security staff stepped aside and unchained the stairways leading down to the field for the fans.  It really felt like we were being invited to the field, and it seemed pretty orderly, without danger to anyone in the crowds, to me.  I think it happened well after the FSU players had left the field too.  What a dumb call by the ACC.

I swear, my first thought when I read the thread headline was that Stanford was being fined for beating ACC stalwart Florida State.

Mudhead - Mudhead - 10-20-2025

Best football related  news in a long time . First, there were enough fans in the stadium to “storm” the field. Second that Stanford fans cared enough to storm the field. Third, a team that played with so much heart , they deserved to see an excited fan base.

If I could, I’d pay the fine myself !

Now, let’s hope injuries to QB, Running back, Oline and DB are t serious .

Go Card

From our seats, it really looked like this is what was going on. It was the most civilized procession to the field I've ever seen. Not exactly "storming." I recall in the past that they've had games and invited kids & parents down to the field afterward. Would there be a fine for that?

Seemed to me like it started while the FSU players were on the field.  Our team immediately ran over to the student section to celebrate, before the FSU players had a chance to leave.  Which isn't an issue, per se, except we decided to locate the student section right near the tunnel now, which of course means the team running there and students coming on the field could block the visiting team from leaving.  It didn't seem to cause any issues this time, but another reason moving the student section might not be the best of ideas.

A comment from a friend who was at the game with me:

"You call that rushing the field?  I've seen more people rushing the stage at an Air Supply concert."
