* Jordyn Wheeler - 6'0" Canadian guard, ranked ESPN #86. Committed 8/3/25. Signed 11/12/25.
* Elyse Ngenda - 5'9" guard from New Hampshire. Gatorade POY for NH. Offered March 2025.  Ranked ESPN #95, PN 4* (in top 150). Stanford in her final 5 as of 8/25/25. Committed/signed 11/17/25.
* Kiara Green - 6'5" post from Oregon, offered Jan 2026, committed Jan 2026, signed 4/17/26.
* Gracyn Gilliard - 5'11" G/F from Indiana. Gatorade POY for Indiana. Committed Apr 2026, signed 6/1/26.

I have flagged Kennedy Umeh as a redshirt this year.
Lepolo says she is not returning for 26-27 season.

With new rules the roster limit will be 15 with no walk-ons above that allowed.

True for Stanford WBB but not for a number of Stanford sports. Players can be DSA or designated student athletes and can keep their spot on the roster. New rules are in effect now actually like for MBB

We have quite a few slots to fill with the 2027 recruiting class.  But it seems really quiet on that front, even in terms of players of interest.  There seems to be more action with the 2028 class.  I am hoping we get some kind of surprise with the 2027 class, as I think it is an important one for the team.

Agreed, at this point and considering recruits often initially list 10-20 schools when they get to be upperclassmen in high school, it's concerning that we are not even given cursory consideration by recruits.

I feel like big wins over the next couple months could reverberate beyond this season; if we can show recruits, then we can beat a Hannah Hidalgo-led Notre Dame or get over our recent struggles against NC State, then that could leave a good impression on the trajectory of the post-Tara era.

Palmer would be an amazing get.  She is really quite phenomenal.  But she also recently was quoted saying that being recruited by Staley is a dream come true.  So, a pleasant surprise would always be welcomed, but it would be a surprise if she comes our way.

Thanks, Bob. Kiara reportedly averagng 15.6 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 2.0 bpg (all per Howard U). She has a reported 4.0 GPA. 

Piecing things together from her IG account,Green received a slew of mid-major offers through last fall, but not one from Stanford even despite camping here last June. She then announced a commitment to Howard in mid-November, but subsequently decommited in late-December.  Kate then offered her ~ a week ago.  

Maybe I'm overthinking this but it sounds/feels to me like:
Not saying "it" all needs to be elegant, but this feels "not"....oh well, whatever works.

EDIT - Am I corrrecting in assuming that, as it stands, signing Green in this year's class would preclude TL from returning next season?

  • Green jumped the gun on committing to Howard without knowing her Stanford admission status (awkward), +/-
  • we're hedging our bets against any possible portal departures after this season to get a full (on paper) 2026-27 roster in place sooner rather than later, particularly after feeling the sting of whiffing on so many 2026 players this last recruiting cycle.

Not saying "it" all needs to be elegant, but this feels "not"....oh well, whatever works.

This seems pretty accurate and believable. I don’t see she has had any power 4 offers aside from Stanford? She did take visits to Oregon and Purdue but I don’t see offers were made from either school. Kind of weird… Can a player go that “under the radar” if they are really that good. Also can’t find any rankings on her or any real insight. Feels like this decision would be to just a fill a roster spot.

Would be good to have more size on the roster...  Green's not as mobile as Eschmeyer or Umeh, but has a nice looking shot.  Could be a good developmental piece.  There's not much size at the top end of the 2027 class.

Speaking of Umeh - any news on her health?  Is she out for the year (did I miss the news?)?  The team could sure use her physicality in ACC play.

Yes, she's apparently out for the season with an arm injury. This is per several posts from December on.

I wonder if Umeh's injury caused the staff to prioritize getting a post for 2026 instead of an athletic wing. Somfai is showing some difficulty with fouling, so you can imagine why they might want another 4/5 who can defend.
