CompSci87 - 11-19-2025
Welcome to the 2027+ MBB recruiting thread! Now that we have a full 2026 class signed in the early signing period, it seemed like time to start the new thread.
Palm Tree and the mods will try to propagate updates into the first post.

We offered a 2028 3-star? That doesn't add up. Is he a kid who has gone to Stanford summer camps since he was 7? Is he a former player's son?

FWIW, the offer was reported a year ago and is mentioned in various places on the web if you Google for it.

+1 to what CompSci87 said - the offer status was vetted when prepping this 2027+ list. A couple of other things to remember. First, offers are based on coaches evaluations, not # of stars, legacy status, etc. Second, rankings evolve over a player's career - increasing as/if the player's skills develop, reputation/exposure increase, etc. Zeigler's a great case in point - he was unranked when he was first offered and listed here last year - this year, he's ranked as a 3 star recuit in 247.

There are also only 103 '28 recruits ranked AT ALL
right now by the services. It's way too early to judge anything.

Also, you know who else was a 3* recruit out of high school? From the 2025 thread:
* Ebuka Okorie, 6-1 PG, 3*. Committed 11/18/24.

He was bumped up to 4* very late in the cycle.

At the same point in the recruiting cycle as Ziegler is now (2 years before LOI day) he was not a 4*.
And to be clear, I’m not saying Ziegler will be the next Okorie, just that the predictive power of recruit ratings is limited when you are talking about high school sophomores.

A lot of guys on that 2027 list. What is a reasonable guess as to how many we will need?

I'll take a totally SWAG-based swing and venture a guess of 4-6 based solely on having 2 seniors (Gealer, Okpara) and two post-bac/grads (Rohosy & Dent-Smith) on the roster + adding possibly 1-2 undergrads who might decide to move on b/c they're not in the "regular" rotation, at least not so far at this point of the season. That said, the season's young and wth knows what can happen given the vagaries that admissions, NIL and the transfer portal can lend to the situation. Actually, given all these factors, I don't think the # of reported offers is that outlandish at this point.
RE: Class of 2027+ -
PVTree - 12-18-2025
We already have 4 frosh coming in to replace this year's last year players (Okpara, Gealer, Dent-Smith, and Rohosy).
Class of 2027 would potentially replace Agarwal, Thompson, Grant, Cammann (this year academic seniors and juniors) + any early departures.

DOH - I swung and missed badly on that one - at least the #s were the same - I need a vacation!

Belated addition to the 2027 offer list - Crew Fotheringham, 4* 6'6 wing from American Fork, UT. He self-reported an offer on IG back in April. He's also been offered by Utah,
kal, Mississippi State, USD, Hawaii, UtahVSt & Weber State. He's rangy with a decent handle, quickness and hops, moves well without the ball and is able to hit the long j. Kinda reminds me of Agarwal. He averaged 13.2 ppg and 4.7 rpg last season.
I see a few more 2028 offers out too - I'll try to get those added in the next day or so.
Feliz ano novo a todos!

Nice - a PF! Too bad about Wayne Tinkle, though, but hey.....
Described as a high IQ player who's pretty versatile for his size. Here's a
short highlight clip, albeit against undersized competition - looks like he could stand a few burritos.
I'll get back to updating the lists of commits and recruits - been awhile. Go get us some more big boys, please coach!

He's got a bunch of highlights on his twitter account that really show some promise, especially if he has grown to 6' 9". He looks like he can shoot it, and we can always use a big who can stroke the 3.

If we'd had a big who could shoot 3s this year, we might've won 3+ more games and made the Tourney. The spacing that would've opened up for Okorie...
RE: Class of 2027+ -
PVTree - 03-23-2026
If nobody else leaves, except the six honored at senior day, I thought we needed to fill the 2 open spots with a center and a 3-point sniper since we're losing Benny and JDS who were our best outside shooters this past year.
Besides Okorie, nobody on the team that played any meaningful minutes, shot 31%+ from beyond the arc.
Of course, we may lose other players to the portal in a few weeks opening up the door to have room for a big big and a sniper.
I do like getting these well-rounded 6'7"-6'9" players that can play/guard various positions. It just makes us very dangerous if we can complement them with Okorie (they would actually be complementing EO), a sniper, and a rebound machine.
