It would have been 7th time in 8 years if it wasn’t for the pandemic

Yay! The streak lives!

Let's add women's golf and women's water polo at least to make it 3 NCAA championships.

RE: MGym National Champions! 6 of last 7; Stanford 50 years of NC - M T - 04-19-2026

Am I missing something?  At GoStanford, I see only a news item that is at least half about the NC streak, with the most of the rest rather generic about the MGym history. Only 2 athletes are mentioned, and then only on the final apparatus.  I don't see a news item dedicated to the men's gymnastics win.   I also checked the News button under MGym.

I hope they correct this quickly.  Portraying these guys with the highlights they deserve might help in attracting & retaining future athletes.

Agree, would it have killed them to include more event narrative and a few of the clips posted to MGym's X page? (thanks for posting them in the natty thread, BC)

But hey - image over athletes these days, you know.....

I bet most of it was prepared before the weekend in the event they won. In fairness to the comms people, it was a Saturday night. And there's been a lot of insta and Twitter content they've been posting.

I’m no fan of the gostanford website, and often find the coverage of various sports wanting, but I would venture to say that, if keeping the streak going- and, especially, hitting the 50-year mark - wasn’t your first thought upon hearing about (or seeing on ESPN2) the win, you are probably one of only a handful…
I’m sure Asher Hong won’t mind too much.

Saturday is a regular work day for people covering sports.

I could just see someone responsible for covering a New Year’s Day game giving it just a couple of sentences because it was played on a holiday

Oh, don't get me wrong - the Streak was definitely foremost on my mind.  I'm class of '78 and knew a couple of guys on the '76 MWP team, which stated this whole thing off, so I'm thrilled it's continuing.   GoStanford's weekend coverage of non-revenue sports is just pretty p**s-poor to me, is all, and this was not just any ROM event.

In Stanford’s defense, their social media group is usually pretty good at posting clips from events onto twitter/x.  So when there is a big event going on, I just search for the individual sports account and share whatever clips they have.
