The sub-2 hour marathon - BostonCard - 04-29-2026

Surprised no one posted.  On Sunday, not one but two runners broke the 2 hr barrier, something that had never been done in an official race.

This is ridiculous.  I think I could keep pace for maybe 100 m.  I’ve run one marathon in my life, and let’s just say that they’d have been done before I hit the halfway point.

Both runners were wearing the same shoe model.

As was the woman who broke the woman's mark.

Was it cheating when runners went from running barefoot to wearing shoes?  The world athletics governing body and has said that generally the “super shoes” are allowed with a few restrictions.

Seems like a bit of a different response than swimming had to the super suits a decade or so ago.

What a boon for Adidas.
