from today's zoom session with Jon Levin in a staff response to an question submitted during the call
"We will be announcing a "Stanford Alumni Summer Session" series this summer. During that series, AD John Donahoe will join us to talk through the extensive athletics strategy. That invite wi;; be in your email later this month"
will be interesting to see if any real info is revealed....
Levin was also supportive of athletics in general but did again say (my paraphrase) "the AD has to get back to self funding"

As usual, Stanford doing things deliberately and at a snail's pace. The new AD has taken a year to develop the Athletics strategy and now they will probably take another year (or more) to implement it. Meanwhile, the landscape will continue to change faster than Stanford can (try to) adapt to it.
Of course, the last time Stanford took "bold action" to respond to the new world of college athletics, they followed Larry Scott's recommendation and committed to an ownership arrangement for the P12 Network which eschewed a partnership with ESPN or Fox in favor of outright ownership by the conference. That never worked out as planned.

Hopefully leadership doesn't mean embracing a me-too strategy where we try to out Nebraska Nebraska. (Or Florida State, Or Auburn, etc)

Which I think is all you really need to know, because self-funding in this environment, with the TV deal and travel costs we have while carrying the number of sports that we carry is going to be nearly impossible absent a Big Donor.
I have posted many times about the fiscal challenges that the University had last year, and why that meant I thought that it was unlikely that the University would pony up the support needed to get to where most people on this board want/expect us to be.
Without the aforementioned Big Donor, we are going to struggle to even support the existing sports at the level we support them. Forget winning the NIL wars for plum players in football, mens/womens basketball and superstars in other sports (like Canady).
