2027 Stanford Softball - BobK - 06-08-2026

Stanford will add at this point 4 incoming frosh. The portal is now open, day 1,
and no Stanford players in the portal. Stanford last added a player for the 2024 season
and that was a winner Taryn Kern. They have room to add, but it's rare.

Incoming Frosh:
Lydia Berent Pitcher from Boca Raton FL. Ranked # 11 overall by Line Drive when signed
in November. As a JR 243 Ks and love this 20 Stolen bases

Marisa Bryson, Inf, from Woodland Ca . Three time All State Frosh, Soph, Jr assume her division.
Possible SS starter this coming season. Uncle is former Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia. As a SR hit 530.

Emmaline Humphreys. Pitcher from Westminster, CO. 2.2 Ks per inning as a JR Ranked # 17 by Line Drive
As a Sr just named Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year. As a Sr 0.81 ERA, 284Ks , 362 BA

Kale'a Tindal, OF from Harvard-Westlake HS. Ranked # by Line Drive. Lefty Hitter, both great power
and speed

Stanford graduated 6 players.

SS River Mahler who hit 351 with one HR and 38 RBIs
1B Taryn Kern who makes her pro debut tonight. Kern hit 386 with
18 HRs and 49 RBIs
CF Emily Jones who hit 408 3 HRs and 24 RBIs and stole 19 bases in 19 attempts
RF Kyra Chan who hit 399 with 7 HRs and 39 RBIs
Also Allison Morikawa and Ella Murchison who played little

Glad Lawson is coming however if Houston and Krause healthy they might be better than Lawson plus two Frosh coming in
Of course you can never have too much pitching

Not just Kern but 4 outstanding hitters so a great question. We have several outstanding Sophomores for next season who didn’t get to play much plus an injured infielder who missed the season, returning for next season

Evidently when she came out struggling in her pro start, her coach called Stanford pitching coach Tori Nyberg.

I'm very surprised after reading that story... She was drafted second? Who passed on her with the first pick? 

Talented rookies struggling at the beginning of their pro careers? Nothing new. It's happened to many. She'll be fine.

Kern picked 11th in the second round. 

Wondering how big a pay difference there is between the first and second picks. It's probably not big, but it has to be a big pay cut for NC.

Zoe was outstanding. Houston back and forth with injuries. Krause injured. We will have 8 pitchers next season

Will 8 pitchers be enough.  Zoe hasn't met my expectations yet.  Maybe next season?

Quality over quantity when it comes to softball pitching. Haven't seen anything from the current pitching staff that makes me think we have a WCWS run in them.

Yep.  With seven pitchers on the roster why did coach pick up an eighth pitcher?  Because none of the seven can be counted on in a big game to provide a credible performance.  Zoe is good sometimes and very average other times.  You can't count on her to be an elite finisher every game.

However I think lol Zoe plays RF and pitches. Maybe another plays a position other than pitching
