Come Join The Band for Stanford-Miami game! -
GaryT - 07-23-2026
Hello Friends of LSJUMB! I'm posting the message below from Wall-E, the new Manager of LSJUMB, with my personal plea to encourage you to Come Join The Band and RTFO for the September 4 football game vs. Miami.
---
Alums!! Hello!! Wall-E here, I’ll cut straight to the point: we’re inviting all alums and community members to our September 4th Game vs. Miami!!! We are admittedly in a bind with this game, as it falls the week after summer quarter housing ends and is two weeks before Band camp, making it difficult for a lot of current members to make it to the game. So, to be completely honest, we really need your help. We can promise good vibez, good timez, food, and an unlimited source of funk, so come on down to rock tf out with us before school starts!
Please fill out this form by 8/24 if you're planning on coming! Again, we want as many of y’all as possible (stay tuned for a similar message about reunion in October)!

LSJUMB won't be performing a half-time show, but, if we have the numbers, will probably perform a basic pre-game show.
How desperate is the situation? I'm dusting off my trombone to participate after ~25 years!
(This is a Friday PM game on Labor Day weekend. Perhaps we can do some sort of OF get-together on Saturday, e.g., a Zott's run or tailgate/picnic. If you have suggestions for an additional get-together plans, please add to the comments.)
Thanks!

Will let my OF son know. He may be in the Bay Area that weekend. Wish I could be there, but I’m there the weekend before!

I'll be at the game. I don't play an instrument but I can pretend to do so. 8^)

Oh, wow. Best of luck!
It's too late for this season, but perhaps an idea for next season -- a one-day (or half-day?) Fantasy Band Camp for old farts. I notice that the band often does a session with high schoolers prior to the start of classes and that made me think that a FBC would be a great idea for an LSJUMB fundraiser. $100-150 is not too much to ask for a bucket hat and a lot of fun pre-game.

What a clever idea! I like it - thank you. Those pre-student-arrival games are brutal for attendance and participation, to say nothing of this year's conference opener being on the Friday of Labor Day weekend.

Sign-up to Come Join The Band for the Miami game is still open - deadline August 24.
Here's the latest update/request from the Band Staph, include the day's schedule [no field show] and the music folder. Between now and then, you might find me at Montara Beach, getting my chops in shape and playing to the tide.

Hello Alums!
Just wanted to bump again our Community Band Day Invite for the 9/4 football game versus Miami! And yes when I say community Band Day, I mean it! Send this form around to your friends that are also musical and/or will get a kick out of being in the Band for a game!
An important update: we will sadly not be going forward with fieldshows for this game, our current Band numbers with how tricky this game schedule makes it not possible. I know this may be frustrating to those who expressed interest in being around for pregame, but we will still make the most of Game Day with The Walk and a banging setlist in the stands. Speaking of which, this is the digital folder we'll be using for the game:
9/4 Folder!

Below is the link to sign up if you haven't already! Can promise lots of fun! Also, I'll be a bit of a broken record about this, but please wear a white shirt and black pants if you're a wind, or white pants and a black shirt if you're a drum. You probably already know that, but here's a reminder just in case :)
