Zach Banner Commits to 'SC -

I'm assuming that means that neither Kyle Murphy or Andrus Peat are going to 'SC. Looking good!

Neither was ever going to SC. Plus both would start over Banner so him being there would not matter.

What makes you so sure about Murphy? His last interview had us both dead even. And Rivals has Banner rated much higher than Murphy and Peat.

No SC fans think he's going there. SC has sanctions, a deeper o-line, lesser academics, crappy coaches, and a dick for a head coach. Is he really going to SC so his parents can attend his home games? Stanford develops players into NFL talent. Most of SC's top talent transfers. As for Banner being higher on Rivals that surprises me if true. I read he gets beat by quick 4-3 DEs due to being so large.

Why would one assume that two talented OT wouldn't go to the same school? I can understand that with QBs since basically only one can play. But there are two OT positions. Even if one wanted to be the LT, it isn't necessarily a straight line there, e.g., some start at RT than flip to LT when they are ready. Sometimes OT are moved to OG. In any case, both can play at the same time, assuming they beat out the other tackles on the team.

Two reasons, in this specific case:
1) Murphy has often stated he values the chance of playing early, and likes the left tackle-shaped void on both SC and Stanford's roster. With Banner already committed, presumably that void looks less empty.
2) SC's sanctions are kicking in this year, and they can only take 15 commits plus early enrollees. As a consequence, the question is whether they want to allot five offensive line spots (current SC commits + (Murphy or Peat)) with only eighteen total scholarships to give out (I believe that's the correct number).

What about us? Why we can't get both Murphy and Peat?

My sense is that Banner saw his rating jump a lot after the final all-star games when he performed better than expected against top talent. I think people assumed he would be beaten by the quicker DEs but he more than held his own. I'm no fan of SC, but they have a pretty good history of getting OL into the NFL. But I do think Murphy will end up at Stanford, along with Shittu and Winston.

I think we can get both.
