Stanford Olympians 2012 - stan01 - 06-28-2012

Congratulations to Stanford sophomore Kristina Vaculik, who was named to the Canadian gymnastics Olympic team.  Kristina is the reigning Canadian national champion.

It would be fun to group all the Stanford Olympians in one thread.  Feel free to add and change the number at the bottom accordingly.

STANFORD OLYMPIC ATHLETES LONDON 2012:

Just one end of it.

Re: Stanford Olympians 2012 - stan01 - 06-28-2012

Who has a realistic chance at a medal?

How are rowers selected? Do they have to seat race? - Redrum - 06-28-2012

Or does a committee pick them based on watching the sport over time and just knowing who the top rowers are?

Re: Stanford Olympians 2012 - fullmetal - 06-28-2012

The eights, fours, and quads were selected by the coaching staff.  All the small boats had selection trial regattas.

Re: Stanford Olympians 2012 - BobK - 06-28-2012

Riley is new Zealand but O'Hare, Buehler and Barnhart for USA women's soccer.

Kristin Richards, Logan Tom, Fuluka A and Cynthia Barboza WVB.  Although Richards might be an alternate.

Re: Stanford Olympians 2012 - fullmetal - 06-28-2012

Good catches Bob...I guess the Stanford SID once again needs to get on the ball with adding O'Hara and Buehler to the women's soccer roster.  I flubbed Riley's New Zealand affiliation.

Regarding MVB and WVB--when are the official rosters announced?  I see at least a couple of Stanford men (Gabe Gardner, Kevin Hansen, Kawika Shoji) on the MVB national team roster as well, but I think the Olympic roster for both men and women are separate from the national team rosters of the USA Volleyball.  I don't see Foluke on the women's natl team roster, but I do see Ogonna Nnamani in addition to the others you already named.

Re: Stanford Olympians 2012 - BobK - 06-29-2012

Great question. It's confusing on the VB teams.  But:  add Keri Walsh :)
