WBB: Any summer news about our team? - 81alum - 07-12-2012

Last year nearly all the frosh played in the Pro-Am league and enough fans attended for us to get an idea of what kind of players they were likely to become.  This year no current Stanford players are playing, making it very hard to get any sense of what next year's team will be like.

Has anyone heard or seen anything about how our team is developing this summer?  I don't even know if Alyson Beebe has recovered from her ACL injury of May of 2011.  Will she even be playing next year?

While Joslyn is going to get a lot more playing time, I would guess that how well the team does may hinge on Alyson.  If Alyson has not completely recovered, or worse--is prone to repeat her injury--or if she just cannot help alleviate the gigantic void that Nneka leaves behind, then things begin to look bleak.  But if she is back to the form she exhibited her Junior year that had her ranked nationally in the top ten, and if she is a quick-study, then things look better.

But no matter how good this group is, it is a bit discouraging to know that Baylor isn't going anywhere and that Connecticut has a fabulously strong class coming in.

Any insight?

Sara was wearing a boot between games late last season.  Hope she has recovered.  I believe 7 players are on campus not sure if in addition to the 2 frosh or not.  The frosh are here  But with many recovering from injuries I gather Kezar wasn't an option.

There is a new rule that coaches can work with the players in the summer now and that's why so many men and women are on campus.  Contact is limited to a couple of hours a week but that will help with 8 of the 13 women being Sophs and frosh.

Of course July is a big tournament month so coaches are traveling a lot but almost must have one not traveling.
