A refreshing nail-biter play call where I agreed with shaw -

I liked the call prior to SC's last drive... Where shaw elected to punt rather than go for a field goal. Took SC down to the 11 yard line, and handed them over to our KICK ASS defense. Quiet acknowledgement that our kicker is a dud, rather than his bullheaded side ("you give confidence to your players" or what have you.)

Oh, I thought Shaw's most brilliant call was easily the pitch to Kelsey Young. Perfect playcall.

I was getting ready to throw my remote if he would have tried to kick a FG there.

Interesting thing about the Kelsey Young pitch play was that there were only 10 Stanford players on the field, and it still worked to perfection.Â

I actually liked the play call before the punt -- the pass attempt on 3rd and 9 -- even better. I fully expected the normally conservative Shaw to call a run up the middle and kill some clock (or force USC to burn another timeout). But the pass attempt said loud and clear that we were playing to win, not just to hang on and hope for the best.
