Congratulations and THANKS!! - Redrum - 10-12-2012

This one's for you,  Cardboard posters and contributors!  Thanks to you, our financial fuel tanks are topped off and we are set for another long flight.  Our total so far is just over $1,450,  which should carry us for years if hosting fees stay fairly stable.

We had a long list of supporters with a healthy mix of large (>$50)  and smaller.  Make no mistake, the smaller amounts really added up to major support.    It was a LOT of fun to check PayPal at intervals and just watch you folks respond. 

Now for something completely different:

Based on our projections,  we should be good for several years of web hosting.  Or for a couple years less we could do something long overdue: reward Yvonne for years of dedication.  This is not her idea.  Call it a bonus (except that there has been no pay all these years for it to be a bonus to) or just a thank-you gift.  Let's be clear.  This is not "compensation".  We can't "compensate" her for her contributions.  She started the Cardboard, has navigated it through several crises,  and generally pours her time and creativity into it.  Maybe she'd rather spend it on software upgrades,  maybe on drinks for everybody in the house,  but  I and others hope she'll use it just for herself.  She'd make the choice.

But...it was your money and I'm sort of...changing the call at the line after having said our only cost was web hosting.  If you have objections, please personal message me.  If you agree,  please post below.  Think of it as equivalent to signing a group card  for Yvonne...and yourselves for being part of and supporting this community.

But don't forget congratulations for yourselves.  God (and you) willing, we are clear to move forward.  Thanks!

All for it.  I'm a newbie here (just did not know about the board) and in a short time have seen Yvonne's contribution and value to this - the message board with the highest signal to noise ratio on the entire information superhighway.

My contribution was a gift to reflect my gratitude. Whether that money goes towards web hosting, design fees, or a 2 AM bottle of tequila, it's absolutely fine with me!

totally in favor of giving Yvonne a thank-you gift with the stipulation that she is NOT allowed to spend it on anything Cardboard related. This should be for her use only, so she can spend it on buying a hundred bunnies to chase through a field (at least that's how I'm going to spend my bonus).

Speaking of bunnies, I wonder if we could buy a hundred rabbits of Caerbannog and unleash them on the Oregon football team :)  Not even the Ducks would be fast enough to escape...
