Stat of the game: 7 drives of three plays or less - needle - 10-13-2012

Stanford had 7 drives of three plays or less, not including the kneel down at the end of the second half.

ND had five such drives.

Again, my comment of it's hard to wear another team's defense down when they're only on the field for three downs at a time.

Also, how many running plays did we go to when it was a run/pass option (3rd and 3 or 4, 2nd and 6 or 7)?  One of the things that made the Gerhart driven Cardinal good was, they would still run the ball on 3rd and 5 or 3rd and 6.  I think Taylor could be that good.

The thing that hurts most?  We could have been the first team to beat both SC and Notre Dame four consecutive times.

Yeah, even if the offense had scored the exact number of points, if they had just been able to keep the ball longer and play a bit of field position, that might have been enough to swing the game.
