Our out of conference opponents - stan01 - 10-20-2012

Duke (6-1), San Jose State (5-2) and Notre Dame (7-0) all won today.  Duke is going to a bowl for the first time since 1994.  Is anyone else rooting for whoever ND is playing that week until the USC game?

I root for U.SC over ND. Better to have a Pac12 team come out on top there. As Wilner noted, if ND goes to a BCS bowl, it really cuts the chances of a 2nd Pac12 team getting in. So yes, ND needs to lose, even if it hurts our SOS. They will probably lose to Oklahoma and U.SC, but that won't keep them out of a BCS.

On the other hand, Stanford needs to be that second Pac 12 team.

We likely gave that up after losing to ND, sadly. Unless you're ND, 10-2 is likely your qualifying record, which means beating Oregon.

The best for our SOS is that ND wins every game save against USC. Since we also played USC, and the conference rivals do too, we want USC to win their OOC games.

Duke is going to start losing games now left and right, and I'm ecstatic that they are going to a bowl for the first time in more than a decade. This year our SOS is great (3rd toughest in Colley). If we are able to finish 9-3, we will be in the top 15, close to the top 10!
(I'm still secretly hoping that the offense starts working, we beat Oregon, and we go to the Rose Bowl. One can dream...)
