End of 1st Q: Stanford 3, Wash. State 0 - needle - 10-27-2012
By my count, Stanford has five sacks of Jeff Tuel, yet his stat line is quite good: 10-12, for 70 yards.
Stanford's offense has already had one three-and-out, and - truly without hyperbole - Nunes is looking awful.
The key will be to avoid getting into a field goal kicking contest with WSU, as I suspect they're going to be able to move the ball a bit this afternoon.
I'm only a little worried at this point.

Just tuned in to see Nunes overthrow an open Ertz...what's been going on with our offense in the first quarter? Looks like Wilkerson had a long run, but otherwise weve had some trouble runing, and obviously our passing game is not going well.

Game is going according to form so far.
The defense is playing well; the offense sucks.
Hopefully the offense can pick it up as the game progresses.

Well, shit. Is looking back for the ball just no longer a suitable defensive strategy? I can't remember any of our defensive backs doing it, going back to the Teevens years.

Tuel and the WSU wideouts are pretty talented, and Leach is enough of a tactician to go toe-to-toe with Mason.
WSU is going to put some points on the board today, it's up to the Stanford offense to answer.

Thank god. Good toss, we have a quarterback who can sometimes hit a completely uncovered receiver. Looks like no CB lined up over JRP.

We don't need a 5 star QB to win the war on Saturdays. We are a run heavy defensive minded team and we can win games with a QB like Nunes. I don't mind.
I'm actually more concerned with our secondary's ability to stop these spread/air raid offenses. I don't think we are proven in that regard.
