Why Kiffin fired his O.C. -

Seems like there was dissension on good ship Trojania, if you can believe it:

(Apparently Kiffin felt "threatened" by Kennedy Polamalu.)

the downside is it could prompt Haden to hire a competent head coach. I'd rather have a prolonged demise ala Tedford.
That poor rookie QB. He has no idea... - Redrum - 02-16-2013
...that Lane is going to use him as a human shield for the entire 2013 season. How could Lame be expected to win when he's got a rookie QB just learning the ropes? Now, Haden could still get to Kiffin, but he'll be shooting the shield QB in the move. Wittek will still be around, but if Kiffin is gone after next season, he'll already have a reputation of a mediocre QB ( who can't win, just like Kiffin) and two years experience in the Kiffin offensive system will be toast if a new guy comes in and takes over.

Maybe Shaw should hire Polamalu just to screw with Lane Violation's head.

You didn't watch any Stanford games the last half of last season, did you?

If he is as good a coach as people say he is, I'd be fine with that.

The L.A. Times reported at the time of the hire that it was Pat Haden who made the call to give Polamalu the O.C. title. It sounds to me like Kiffin might actually be trying to get fired and take the money. Gifts like Lane don't come around too often. We should just enjoy it.

Visions of Haden and an overhead projector...

Quote:Sources said Polamalu didn't realize he was in trouble until an administrator called him on national signing day (Feb. 6) and told him not to attend a recruiting dinner held at the Galen Center that night.
Two days later, Polamalu found out he was fired when he read reports on the Internet. Kiffin never called him and still hasn't spoken to him regarding his dismissal, sources said.
That's rough. Shady.

And very similar to the way he /hired/ Polamalu from the Titans...with no request to head coach Jeff Fisher, ironically an $C guy.

Also similar to the way he recruits, a la that story about the kid being asked to go from a mid-year enrollee to a next fall enrollee. A perfunctory, indirect phone call--that's how all HR and recruiting decisions should be made...
