So glad to see that his decision to stay on the Farm paid-off for him!

From David Lombardi's twitter feed:
Quote:Mark Appel developed cut down on walks, increased strikeouts behind improved slider and a 3rd plus pitch, the changeup, this year .
Essentially, Mark Appel executed return to school perfectly: earned Stanford degree, improved, potentially picked up ~$4 million more.
Doesn't get any better than that, baseball postseason run notwithstanding. What a run. Plus the Stanford strikeout record. Congrats to Mark, and I look forward to seeing him lift the Astros out of their current predicament!

Just came across this bit of trivia: Appel went to high school with Zach Ertz. And they both played basketball in high school.

Dawkins could have used both of them this season, I think.
Austin Wilson was selected with the 49th pick in the MLB draft by the Seattle Mariners.

From the Giants' twitter account:
With their 4th round pick, 132nd overall, the #SFGiants select 1B Brian Ragira from Stanford.
