Oregon State Depth Chart? - OutsiderFan - 10-26-2013

There are links to the depth chart and game notes for the OSU game on gostanford.com, but the links lead nowhere.

Has anyone seen or is there otherwise a depth chart posted somewhere?

I'm particularly interested to see if Francis Owusu is on the depth chart at WR, because if there were any game it would make sense for him to get his first reps at WR in a game, it would seem to be this one.

Here it is.

Seriously, is there any more worthless document?

Thanks.

Kind of curious to see Cajuste listed as the starter for Oregon State.

IMHO, you don't want a true freshman to get his baptism under fire in a game like this, where the outcome could turn on a rookie mistake or two.

[/quote] I understand your point, but then why did we burn his shirt?

Re: Oregon State Depth Chart? - OutsiderFan - 10-26-2013

I think David Shaw's answer to Owusu potentially playing would be something like:  If they are ready to play they are ready to play.  That's why we recruit good players, so they can contribute.

Presumably because we thought he would be able to contribute on special teams. Also, I know it is a bit of a cliche, but if he turns out to be as good a player as we hope he is going to he wouldn't have been around for another four years anyway.

P.S. If Shaw puts him in and he catches the winning TD pass in the fourth quarter, I will be very happy to admit I was wrong.

The Harbaugh/Shaw era has been marked by stupid decisions in burning redshirts. I wouldn't be surprised if we frittered away a year of eligibility just to see Owusu make some nice plays on the punt return team.

Although the one that seems to get complained about the most was the one they did decide not to burn. Andrew Luck's.

Aziz Shittu would be one good example, played a bit last year but not quite enough to justify it.

Although Shaw supposedly asked Shittu if he wanted to redshirt or not and Shittu ultimately decided to play his first year.
