Sagarin: Stanford #2 - 97fan - 10-17-2010

The new Sagarin ratings have Stanford at #2! That\'s behind Oregon. Oklahoma, TCU and Boise State round out the top 5.

In Sagarin\'s ELO-Chess ratings, which the BCS uses, Stanford is #5.

The first BCS rankings will be released tonight. I wonder whether Stanford may sneak into the top 10. After looking at the other computer rankings, all of which had Stanford lower than Sagarin last week, I think it will be close. Somewhere in the #9-12 range seems likely to me.

Playing Wazzu will hurt Stanford in Sagarin\'s poll.

Still it is fun to even think #2 is possible.  I suspect we have USC to thank for this one.  Stanford beat SC, and SC killed C.a.l.

So they can\'t make it to Palo Alto, thus not playing the game this weekend, thus not lowering Stanford\'s Sagarin rating.

Does that mean even if we beat kal, our rating will go down?  :(

If you\'re number 2, one assumes that playing anyone except #1 can hurt your ranking
