Leading Matters - fullmetal - 10-18-2010

Has anyone attended the conference/symposium?  Thoughts?

I\'m planning to be at the Houston Leading Matters on Jan. 22, 2011.  I believe there are only three left in the whole series--DC in mid-Nov. 2010, Houston in Jan. 2011, and Portland in May 2011.

Just putting it out there--if you haven\'t been, you may want to go, and there aren\'t many left.

I went to the most recent one in the Bay Area in May (at least I think it was May).

I enjoyed it, most of the talks I went to were interesting (one was not so I slipped out during it).  The food and drinks were all good, the appetizers/drinks before dinner were great as you could talk with lots of different people.  The dinner was nice, got to reconnect with one of my dormates who I had not seen in almost 30 years.  The post-dinner program became a bit of a marketing pitch about how great Stanford and how important your support is, but it was not unbearable.

Overall I\'m glad I went.

The closest I get to the great sucking vortex... - Redrum - 10-18-2010

of Stanford alumni activities/ development is  a bi-yearly call from  Rajiv, Karen, Cindy, Peter II, Kyle, Susie, Peter I, Mark, Sonya...     each one checking to update their contact information and see if it correct.   Someone should be looking into their computer system to determine why they think the digital information spoils every 180 days.

Oh, and Young Boozer-- newly minted Stanford trustee-- has called in the past,  swearing that the first time he gets a moment from his crushing workload in Montgomery, he is coming up to Huntsville to visit with me and other alums personally.   Funny.  Have yet to meet the man after all these years.

I dig your cynicism, RR, but I think Young\'s OK. He was a Phi Kap at Stanford and they all speak well of him, but I guess they would, wouldn\'t they? From personal experience back in the day, I remember him getting s**t-faced at one function and voicing his undying love for "the Bear" (sorry, software, I meant Paul Bryant), while threatening physical harm to all non-believers. But we were all drunk and stupid at least one time.....weren\'t we? I can\'t remember.  :\'(
