Today\'s Seattle looking-out-the-window report:
It\'s the middle of the day and it\'s dark and gloomy. It\'s been a mild drizzle on-and-off for the past few days.
It\'s late October. What were you expecting?

Prior to Wazzu, I would have thought bad weather was a net good. Â Stanford has the power run game. Â Stanford has the QB with the tight spiral and better accuracy.
However after watching the Stanford team slip and slide all over the field against Wazzu, I have come to hope for a decently dry turf.
I have gone up there are few times to watch Stanford play in late October. Â And in those cases the weather was not too bad. Â So while I would anticipate that rain is possible, I also would understand that it might not rain on gameday.
Doesn\'t seem unreasonable to track the weather. Â Also, FWIW Stanford fans clearly prefer dry conditions, so the weather update would be useful for those going to Seattle to watch the game.

Back in the Paul Wiggins era, Stanford played Oklahoma on a rainy day in Norman on artificial turf. The Oklahoma players were slipping all over the place while the Stanford players were not. Stanford won in an upset. There was an article (I can\'t remember which paper) after the game that explained that the Stanford players were wearing shoes with special soles. The material in the soles increased the friction against artificial turf when they were wet. I have never heard this mentioned since and it could certainly be that the paper was wrong. (This has happened a few times in the past.) Does anyone know about this?

Every BCS team seems to either have a contract with one of two or three major shoe companies. Today those types of shoe innovation stories are unlikely, and almost impossible if the teams have the same vendor.
Stanford - Nike
UW - Nike
With shoe innovations taken off the board relative traction benefits will be because of the player\'s running technique, the player\'s bad weather experience and/or the staff\'s footwear decisions on game day.

I have been to at least 8 games in Husky Stadium in October and November. I have yet to be there when it was raining.
Much of the stands in Husky Stadium are covered by a roof. But, this is not the case for the visiting fan seats. If you have not bought your tickets yet, there will be a number of them sold outside the stadium at a reduced rate. If you have tickets, there will be plenty of empty seats under cover that you can migrate to.

I really wish we had a like button right now! :)
Re: Saturday Seattle Weather Report -
Farm93 - 10-29-2010
Today (Friday) at Husky Stadium - Partly Cloudy
Tonight at Husky Stadium - Mostly Clear
Tomorrow AM at Husky Stadium - Cloudy
Tomorrow 3PM at Husky Stadium - 80% chance of showers
IF the Huskies were good, the game could have made it to that 12:30PM slot. And then most of the game would have been played in decent weather.
Sadly, the Huskies are not great so off to Versus and the rain.
The wet weather is likely bad for Owusu and Howell, but could be worse for Locker and his ribs.
In the end, everyone will play in the same conditions, but if Locker is still sore and not running then it should be a net positive for Stanford. Â Besides, it is not as if the Stanford visitor section was going to be rockin\' the place if the weather was nice.

This from the UW school newpaper:
Quote:Through it all, Locker says hell be ready to go this weekend as the Huskies (3-4, 2-2 Pac-10) host heavyweight No. 13 Stanford (6-1, 3-1) Saturday at 4 p.m.
Ill be able to play, Locker said at yesterdays press conference.
Heavyweight and Stanford in the same sentence nice!
