One columnist\'s take:

Indeed, the Cardinal stood pat at No. 13 while all sorts of teams moved ahead and behind them. And while it is admittedly rather difficult to make the case that a team like Nebraska doesn\'t deserve to be ahead of them, it\'s decidedly easier to make the case that Stanford might be the best of the one-loss teams.

Well, they\'re not better than Alabama, but the Cardinal\'s one and only loss is the most respectable out of their one-loss brethren. They lost on the road to Oregon, a team and a venue that could have probably stopped Alexander the Great if the Ducks had the chance.
