Something magical is happening -

For those of you who have been around Stanford for a while, you might notice something special is happening over on the practice fields, in the weight room, and most importantly on the grass at Stanford Stadium.
Stanford is winning football games. Â A lot of them.
I\'ve seen a lot of Stanford games. Â John Elway, Brad Muster, Tommy Vardell, Glyn Milburn, Steve Stenstrom, Todd Husak, Darrien Gordon, John Lynch, Ron George, Trent Edwards. Â I\'ve seen more than my share of bad seasons. Â I\'ve seen some pretty good seasons. Â I\'ve seen coaches that we thought would take us to the promised land (Denny Green, Walsh II). Â I\'ve even seen the promised land, albeit briefly, and it was occupied by Ron Dayne. Â I\'ve even seen an AD attempt to dismantle the football program. Â
I\'ve never seen a turnaround in 4 short years like this. Â I\'ve never seen ANYTHING at Stanford like this.
The talent pipeline is loaded.  Last season a Stanford guy came within a few votes of winning the Voldemort trophy.  This year the QB won\'t win but he might make the invite list.  The coaching staff is solid.  The offense is prolific.  The defense is still a bit shaky but has 2 conference shutouts to its credit.  The only thing that is missing is a short but growing string of home sellouts  :(
This week Stanford is #6 in the BCS. Â Are you kidding me?
There\'s magic in the air. Â Stanford, just a few short seasons removed from being the Pac-10\'s punching bag and losing to I-AA schools, is ranked ahead of Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma and Nebraska, to name a few.
This is unprecedented. Â And I\'m loving every minute of it.
Each week I think the dream will end. Â We\'ll drop a game to a mid-tier team and be relegated to the Humanitarian Bowl. Â But Jim\'s boys keep right on dominating the line of scrimmage and lighting up the scoreboard. Â Now, there\'s still lots of football left to play and things could still go off the rails. Â Somewhere out there is a score to settle with the state of California\'s highest paid employee and a piece of hardware to re-acquire. Â But for now savor the moment, and focus on Arizona State.
What we need to do: Â Get out there and support this team. Â There shouldn\'t be any unsold Stanford tickets for the Big Game, or any empty seats for the season-ender against OSU. Â Anyone with deep pockets, can we figure out how to get Harbaugh and his staff some more money? Â Seriously, if this thing plays out, Harbaugh is going to be THE most sought-after coach in all of football. Â More than Urban Meyer, Pete Caroll, you name it. Â
We still have 4 games to play in this season. Â Don\'t let the dream die.

Yes Jeff...it is very much like the Montgomery years

The dream has been great. Â It may end, but it has been wonderful.
Stanford is a 7 point favorite at ASU, and likely will be at least a TD favorite for C.a.l and OSU.
Anything can happen...T=the team needs to focus on one play, one series, one game at a time...one bad game and the dream is crushed, etc.
Still, very, very, very few teams in college football are playing better than Stanford at the moment. Â Stanford will begin to be mentioned as a possibility in all of the best bowl games. Â Few teams in the top 10 of the BCS have a clearer path to the end of the season.
BTW - speaking of C.a.l  Not only is Riley hurt, but Allen, the stud Frosh WR, has a knee injury.  It does not sound severe, but they will announce his status on Monday.  Tedsy is not as paranoid as JH.  Allen did not play against Wazzu in a very close game, apparently he did something during warm-ups at Wazzu.
Big Game -

Just read this on GoStanford.com:
Quote:Football Road Games
Road game ticket sales are limited to Stanford affiliated people (season ticket holders, alumni, faculty/staff, students, parents). If you are a member of one of these groups, please call 1-800-STANFORD to order. Oregon game on Oct. 2 is SOLD OUT.
If you fall into one of those categories and don\'t have Big Game tix, call right away. They won\'t last.

Amen, Jeff. Â I know we by nature respond to things that are in the news - so it\'s hard to ignore Harbaugh rumors or decommits - but thank you for pointing out what is in front of our faces:
We have an incredible team.
A team that some of us have been waiting a long time for.
A team that is a joy to watch (How satisfying was it to watch the drive on Saturday where it was run right... run left... run middle... touchdown Taylor... Or how satisfying to watch Luck make not only incredible throws but *incredible decisions*... taking the dumpoff... taking the long shot... throwing it away... taking off and running when there\'s a seam... just beautiful to watch!)
There will be plenty of time in the offseason for me to speculate on coaches/recruits/NFL Draft/pac-12/etc. Â But for now... Â It is nice to just soak it in while we can.
What a team! Go Card! Â :)

Hallelujah, and pass the EUTM!
Root for Bama in the Iron Bowl. Root for Arkansas-it\'s a road game for LSU.
And cheer for Stanford!
