Brook Lopez replaces Rajon Rondo on East All-Star team - fullmetal - 01-31-2013

Fairly straightforward replacement.  Kyrie Irving is going to replace Rondo in the starting lineup.    Congrats to Brook!

I think he's the first Stanford player to be an All-Star since the 50s.

Not quite the 50s, but very close.  George Yardley was the most recent Stanford NBA all-star, in 1960.

I think you are right.

Brevin Knight played in the All-Star Weekend Rookie game but was never an all-star.  Neither of the Collins twins were All-Stars and our best NBA players of the 70s and 80s, Mike Bratz, Todd Lichti, Adam Keefe, Rich Kelly never made it to the All-Star game.  Claude Terry played in an all-star game but with the ABA.

Does that make George Yardley Stanford's last NBA all-star?  (And maybe our only other All-Star?)

(Note:  The website below lists Howie Dallmar as "All NBA First Team" in 47-48 but does not show him as an All-Star.  Perhaps they didn't have an All-Star game back then?)

The only other Stanford alum who was an NBA All-Star was Jim Pollard, in the early 50s.  And you're right, there wasn't an All-Star game when Dallmar was All NBA First Team.  The first NBA All-Star game was in 1951.

Landry Fields and Brook Lopez also played in the Rooke-Sophomore games, iirc. Maybe Childress as well.

Brook is very deserving. There was talk of how the change from not having a designated center on the team would hurt his chances of being elected. Glad it worked out for him.
