ASU fans kinda seem like kal fans.  So little rage directed outward at opponents, the refs, the Fates.  It\'s mostly aimed inward.

The twin penalties on Burfict certainly helped Stanford,  but they weren\'t decisive.   Stanford had the first down when Burfict went all Burfict.  But the way we were driving,  it is just as likely that we would keep driving.  It\'s a plausible analysis, anyway.   But, the penalties did happen.  The case against Burfict would be more telling if they\'d stopped us cold and Burfict\'s sins had changed a key defensive stop into a first down.

Reading the Arizona State boards everybody seems harder on Erickson than on Burfict.  They seem to accept that Burfict will help or hurt ASU according to some crazy, wild-card factor sometimes in remission, sometimes breaking their hearts.  He is what he is.

Erickson, on the other hand... I hope his car doesn\'t break down in the wrong neighborhood, which encompasses pretty much all of central Arizona.  His hurry-up, spread offense is credited with putting too much strain on the defense.  Apparently bleeding the clock is just not something the Sun Devils can do.  It was funny reading posts that were envious of Stanford\'s ability to carve up a drive into little pieces.

Before the game Dennis Erickson\'s  Wikipedia entry took advantage of the open editing protocol by noting that  "Dennis Erickson is the coach of Arizona State University...(citing of accomplishments)  ...until he is fired for incompetence."    Nice little piece of internet performance-art now, ummm,  corrected.  

It was surprising the lack of widespread outrage over the Burfict penalties.  Other schools\' fans whine loud and hard.  With the Sun Devil fans,  it just seems like their hearts aren\'t in it.  Sorta  "Yeah, yeah.  The ref\'s screwed us.  Now, when do we fire Erickson and get a real coach".

Three years without even a minor bowl game.  Don\'t see that accomplishment on Wikipedia.  One poster suggested that Erickson is playing the Denny Green role.  Under this theory,  Green stocked the NFL Cardinals with talent but couldn\'t achieve success.  Firing Green and hiring a coach who could actually do something with the talent restored the Cardinals almost over night...and now it\'s time to complete the same process with ASU.

Erickson said in one of the articles linked by garvin that rather than focus on the final two opponents,  ASU would be concentrating on the upcoming bye week.     I\'ll bet.
