Watkins Award Nominations - TrumpCard - 08-18-2014

The Love family is reporting that Bryce Love was nominated for the 2015 Watkins Award.  I haven't seen a list of all those nominated though.  Has it been published?  It would be nice to recruit the winner in back-to-back years.

TC, "nominated" is not the same as being a finalist.  I think that the Watkins folks only publicly announce finalists which will happen later this year or early 2015.

Stanford has a good record with Watkins finalists.  From Stanford Football on Facebook:

Quote: Bobby [Okereke] is the fifth Stanford winner all-time of the Watkins Award in its 23-year history, joining Jamal-Rashad Patterson (2009), Ekom Udofia (2005), Marcus McCutcheon (2002) and Michael Craven (2001). The next closest school boasts three winners. Stanford's 17 all-time Watkins Award Finalists far outpace the nearest school (seven).

Thanks for the response.

Speaking of Bobby Okereke, I noted that Drukarev's report from the scrimmage didn't have him among the top 15 LBs on the team (the list included Alfieri, Perez, and 4 walk-ons).  I know Okereke is on the young side for the incoming class and wonder if he might take an extra year to blossom, similar to Noor D.avis.

Stanford has a good track record with Watkins awards, but the converse is clearly not true.  The record of Watkins award winners at Stanford has been less than stellar, I'm afraid.  Let's hope Okereke breaks the mold.
