Is that unusual for the crowd here? We do seem to be pretty heavy on fuzzies...
I'm as fuzzy as a much-played tennis ball, and I rarely went into Green. (For research purposes...)

Fuzzy??? Fuzzy??? I will have you know I studied in the department of Social Sciences and and proud of my status as a scientist.Â

It wasn't until I left Stanford that I found out the terms Techie v Fuzzy as a pair is almost exclusively Stanford nomenclature. I attribute this that we're the only place that has people that are outstanding in both - sometimes even in the same person!Â
As somebody that wasn't good enough at math to be a Techie or good enough a writer to be a Fuzzy, I majored in econ aka the Fuchies.
EDIT: whoops. I meant to post this message in the UGLY thread. See not good with technology.

Since this is its own thread now, I'll contribute some other Stanford terms which I didn't consider might not be universal:
EANAB (Not sure when this one came into use. Equally Attractive Non-Alcoholic Beverage)
J-Bo (Jack in the Box)
I was a fuzzy partially because stuff like this floats my boat. I'll post more if I remember any.

While I was completely unaware of that term before coming to Stanford, that was because Jack in the Box doesn't exist out east. However, since the use J-Bo in their commercials, I don't think that's really a Stanford term.

EANAB was definitely being used on campus before 1993.
Jack in the Box has had several names on campus (Crack in the Box, Jack in the Crack, Barf in the Bag, Gag in the Bag)Â but this is the first time I have heard of "J-Bo". I haven't lived in an area with Jack in the Box for 11 years, so that probably explains it.

In 1981 we were told, in our ALL FRESHMAN DORM, that we could buy and serve alcohol at our dorm party as long as we also served an "Equally Attractive Non-Alcoholic Beverage" (EANAB). It seemed to be a well worn Res Ed phrase even then.
By the way, our grad assistant RAs bought our kegs for us the first quarter and then were advised by Res Ed that this was not appropriate at which time they merely gave us advice on how to get alcohol from the friendly and not very inquisitive folks at the Frog Pond liquor store.
As you would expect some of those Frosh were not ready for the experience in the Fall but most had learned to pace themselves by Winter quarter.

What, pray tell, might an "Equally Attractive Non-Alcoholic Beverage" be?

I think it's affirmative action for colas.

Ginger ale served by a Dolly?

For a drink to qualify as an EANAB, it had to be just as good as the alcohol being served. If the alcohol at your party is just a keg of beer, then soda would be equally attractive. If your dorm is hosting a progressive party and serving mudslides, margaritas, and kamikazes, soda no longer does it. Now you need to have some milkshakes or Arnold Palmers.

During the early to mid 90s, we bought our liquor from the "secret" Safeway off Sand Hill road.

My sister was class of '84. In my going away to college package she mentioned ENABS and gave me a recipe for Margaritas that included using part of the bannister from a Row House she lived in (Grove IIRC).
I had a fake ID all of Sophomore and Junior year, so I just kind of bought where ever, though Ernie's was a go to, unless we needed copious amounts then we headed down to the Beverage Barn.
