It's time: project the season record - washingtonismoney - 08-28-2014

Regular season only.

Re: It's time: project the season record - washingtonismoney - 08-28-2014

By the by, here's my vote and logic:

UCD: 99%
SC: 65%
Army: 99%
UW: 70%
ND: 70% (assuming 5 players are out)
WSU: 85%
ASU: 65%
OSU: 75%
Oregon: 35%
Utah: 85%
59ers: 95%
UCLA: 50%
= 8.93 (I rounded down because I assume I'm overoptimistic)

Re: It's time: project the season record - Mick - 08-28-2014

I voted 10-2.  Loss at Oregon, then we either get jobbed at N.otre Dam.e or loss to UCLA end of season.  Gun to my head, I say get jobbed at U of DFG

Re: It's time: project the season record - fullmetal - 08-28-2014

It's a discrete poll by definition since we're using integer values.  C'mon! :p

Re: It's time: project the season record - pcgoode - 08-28-2014

11-1, with the possibility that we still win the PAC 12 and go to the CFB Playoff. On paper, I think we should be able to win every game. Football isn't played on paper, however, so I think we will drop one along the way. It wouldn't surprise me if it is against one of our (somewhat) lesser opponents like Oregon State or Washington.

Re: It's time: project the season record - CowboyIndian - 08-28-2014

Do you mean this poll is out there by itself...set apart from all other polls? I think that makes you a pollist.

Re: It's time: project the season record - yvonne - 08-28-2014

I'm not responsible for the terminology! I think the writer meant discreet, but perhaps, it's some polling term that I'm not familiar with. Part of the software's documentation — I think it's the Good Post/Bad Post add-on, but I can't remember — drives me crazy because it uses "amount" when it should be using "number."

Re: It's time: project the season record - Bruce Wang - 08-28-2014

12-0.

12 - 0 isn't the whole season, if you're correct.

I +1 Publius' post for repping VM. I knew there was something I liked about you...

I'll try to find a minute to grep for those terms and fix them.

Re: It's time: project the season record - yvonne - 08-28-2014

No worries. It's only in the instructions, nothing that the members see.

Re: It's time: project the season record - CompSci87 - 08-28-2014

Cool,  but "discrete" does need a fix.

Re: It's time: project the season record - CompSci87 - 08-28-2014

I'm sure the software authors meant "discreet", but that word isn't terribly apt either, so I changed it to semi-private.

Finally got around to watching the movie.  The coolest fictional Stanford person of all time.  There's actually a funny Stanford VM quote as related to the football team, but it's not an elegant quip for a more civilized board.

I recall garvin being the lone optimist ahead of the 2012 season.  Come on, put in 12-0 for good luck.

Re: It's time: project the season record - 81alum - 08-29-2014

I went with the odds and said 9-3, although I could not really say which will be the 9 and which the three.  Maybe I am pessimistic since I just rewatched the Utah game the other night, and that really had a way of reducing hubris.

Re: It's time: project the season record - pcgoode - 08-29-2014

Wilner has us going 10 and 2, with losses to Oregon State and UCLA.

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/collegesports/2014/08/29/stanford-football-game-by-game-predictions-2/

As much as I dislike his columns on occasion, he was very accurate last season. Where I think he gets it wrong in his predictions this year is wrt UCLA. The Bruins will be coming off an emotional game with the USC, and if we are as I suspect fighting for a spot in the PAC 12CG/CFP, I don't see us losing.

Re: It's time: project the season record - StanFan88 - 08-29-2014

I'm going bold - and perhaps in some minds a bit ridiculous

Stanford will be 12-0 this season and Ty Montgomery will win the Voldemort.

The ONLY game on the schedule that genuinely concerns me is Autzen.  I really hope both teams are undefeated on Oct 30.

Re: It's time: project the season record - Papa John - 08-29-2014

I'm going with a repeat of recent history and voting 10-2, with the two losses coming on the road. Stanford finishes in a tie with Oregon atop the Pac-12 North but reps the North in the Pac-12 Championship Game based on the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Same here.  I have a hard time actually seeing the third loss on the schedule, but am trying to keep my expectations in check.
