Our TV ad this year. - Rally - 08-29-2014

Maybe it's just me, but this is boring, vanilla, and much like every other school's ad.  Come on!  We can do better than this.

Yes, that was pretty mundane.  It is hard adjusting to the post-Chiney era.

But the soccer goal in the upper corner was a beauty, and it was fun to see Plunkett.

Love the Plunkett pass.

That's the only part that caught my eye, but most viewers will only see some guy from the Stone Age.  Where is the energy?  Where is the music?  Looked like a University of Phoenix ad to me.

I didn't notice red socks, but it's in black and white.

Ads like that are the cue to get another beer or hit the head.

Ads need to be aimed at an audience.  Who is that aimed at?  Yes, get a beer, take a leak, but what a waste of opportunity.  They need to hire the Budweiser or VW agency.  Maybe BMW, even Buick.  Instead they went with "me, too."

The cheeky "Hail, Stanford Hail" ads from...2008? 2009?...were our best, and, I'd argue, the best I've seen: distinctive in a way that served the message.

Just show the band, complete with ALL RIGHT NOW and scroll where each is now . . . Doctor, lawyer, business mogul, scientist, whatever.  Just skip any currently in jail :)

Yes!

Edit:  it looks like Youtube is not much in a sharing mode for that link.  Odd.

I believe WiM is actually referring to this series:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaHywTO6Fcs

I loved them, although I understood some complaints that they were ineffective in a place without any sound (like a sports bar, casino, or watching party).
