I knew it was bad yesterday but then... -

I looked at the Pac-12 North standings this morning. Gagged upon coffee sprayed onto a computer monitor is incredibly difficult to clean up.

AYFKM ? - Redrum - 10-05-2014
Back in the Central Time Zone I held on till half time for both the UCLA/Utah game and the Kal game. Both looked winnable for the good guys, which means, any opponent playing our rivals. Just now checked the scores. All I can think of is this: Stanford's defense could play out of their effing skulls and we could still easily lose to both these teams. Maybe all four. Cripes.
I hope David Shaw has noticed a little fear voice whispering in his ear.Â

I hope the same thing, but it's doubtful. The guy's got the most secure coaching job there is.

If the offense can't sustain drives, the defense will gas out and inevitably, eventually break down and commit a crucial Lyons-type mistake.

Look at the variation in PF and PA across the conference. Pretty stark.
That little fear voice - Redrum - 10-05-2014
I wasn't talking about Shaw fearing losing his job. I mean the little fear voice that maybe success is slipping away and whatever he's comfortable doing isn't working. One hopes
that little fear voice inspires some real soul searching and willingness to examine with clear eyes past practices and accepted methods. With luck, that phase kicks in long, long before it comes down to fear of losing one's job.

Shaw has done that before, switching QBs in the middle of the season is about as drastic a move as you can make, and he made it. I can see why people call Shaw stubborn in-game, but between games he's generally been anything but.
