UCLA game thread - washingtonismoney - 11-28-2014

Didn't have to wait long for our first stupid mistake of the game.

Re: UCLA game thread - oman - 11-28-2014

We suck.

Re: UCLA game thread - OutsiderFan - 11-28-2014

One of the better drives of the season to tie it up at 7.

Re: UCLA game thread - oman - 11-28-2014

McCaffrey in wildcat every play.

Re: UCLA game thread - Gauss - 11-28-2014

After a couple of harsh but correct penalties against us, I was wondering whether UCLA was being favored to get its Pac-12 South title. But nah, flags are just flying all over the place... ugh.

Re: UCLA game thread - OutsiderFan - 11-28-2014

I might need to ice my neck from shaking it so much after this game.

Re: UCLA game thread - Cardinal96 - 11-28-2014

We have some talent.  We are just sloppy and are not a fun team to watch.

Re: UCLA game thread - OutsiderFan - 11-28-2014

Hey, that call on Owusu was utter nonsense.  Totally benign and gave no competitive advantage whatsoever.

Re: UCLA game thread - washingtonismoney - 11-28-2014

Think the defense's tackling has declined over the course of the year.

Re: UCLA game thread - stupac2 - 11-28-2014

You know, for all the talk about how bad our offense is, what the hell happened to our special teams? They were flawless for so long, and this year they're terrible (according to F+ they're our worst unit by a good bit, 60, 12, 83 for O, D, ST). What's going on with that? It doesn't seem like just luck (though it probably partly is), we've had a bunch of ST penalties, bad punts, TOs, etc. It seems less worrying than the offense, but to some extent it's more surprising.

Re: UCLA game thread - stupac2 - 11-28-2014

Aside from the penalties the offense has looked pretty good. Let's hope they can keep that up (minus the penalties).

Yep, totally agree. Where has it been the rest of the year? Like you say, hope they can keep it up.

Missing tackles like crazy

Re: UCLA game thread - pcgoode - 11-28-2014

Hogan is playing really well. Best I've seen him in a long time.

Re: UCLA game thread - Gauss - 11-28-2014

Hogan is ridiculous today. We know he can be accurate when he knows where to throw at, but today he seems to be coming off covered receivers and making good decision after good decision.

I'll take it!

Re: UCLA game thread - CompSci87 - 11-28-2014

Woo hoo! Nice work by Cajuste to bring that in!

It's making me wonder if it's all finally clicked for him. Certainly looks like it. Maybe not having the crutch of Montgomery is helping him? Maybe he's just gone super saiyan? I have no idea, but I hope he keeps it up in the 2nd half.

Guy in the white #8 jersey:

Who are you and what have you done with Kevin Hogan?

This.  He looks great today.

Re: UCLA game thread - OutsiderFan - 11-28-2014

Rick Neuheisel is looking prescient.  So basically that says if Montgomery were playing, Stanford's offense wouldn't be as effective.  When you consider how poor the offense has been when emphasizing Montgomery so much, this is very plausible.
