How do I ... -

This thread will contain tips and tricks for using the CardBoard.
Log in and stay logged in for more that two hours? -
admin - 01-14-2015
The board has two places to log in, the
quick login at the upper right of each page and the
dedicated login page. To log in permanently or for a period of time you specify, go to the
dedicated login page by selecting the
login link on the
main menu or in the upper right. Type in your user name and password and either select the "keep my logged in" box or type in the duration of time you want to stay logged in.

How to ignore all posts from another member
Well, it's kind of convoluted, but you go to your own profile, then select Modify profile > Buddies/Ignore lists > Edit ignore list, and type in the member's user name.

How does one choose to be invisible? A more difficult question to answer perhaps would be: can you speculate on the reasons someone would feel the need to be invisible?

In the User CP, select Edit Options. At the very top of the page is an option to leave yourself off the "Who's Online?" list. The only reason I can think of for not showing yourself in the list is that you might think people are more likely to PM you if they see your handle. Perhaps, there are other reasons. We had the capability with the old software, as well.

So coach Shaw can get advice from the real experts. ;•)

Some links such as to Youtube seem to be special in that content is displayed rather than just a link. Can we specify that a link should just be a link?

I'm unable to figure out how to add an attachment. I'm trying to add a file named IMG_4188a.jpg of size 671KB.
I click Browse and choose a file (its name is shown). (If I Post Reply now, it isn't attached.)
I click Add Atachment, and the filename goes away, but I see nothing added. (If I Post Reply now, it isn't attached.)
I click Browse and choose a file (its name is shown). (If I Post Reply now, it isn't attached.)
[If I click on Preview Post, the filename goes away.)
What am I doing wrong? (OSX, both Firefox & Safari)
UPDATE: Now answered below.

How to embed a tweet (that is, a post from Twitter)
Code:
[tweet]https://twitter.com/RJ_Abeytia/status/1368736075913457665[/tweet]
gives you
[tweet]https://twitter.com/RJ_Abeytia/status/1368736075913457665[/tweet]
UPDATE: Tweets can no longer be embedded, sorry.

Is it possible to past a photo into the body of a message?

I believe the only way to add a picture is to post it on a public hosting site like Imgur and then link it.

FYI: A month or so ago, my Private Messages page started showing "100% of PM space used". To get under that limit, I deleted a bunch of messages, but I was still stuck at 100% used.
It finally dawned on me that "Delete" just moved the messages to the Trash Can, but they weren't deleted. When I went into the Trash Can and (again) deleted the messages, then my used percent of PM space dropped below 100%.

Regarding finding old threads:
I wanted to go back and find the thread covering the WBB game against UConn from November 2017, but things didn't work as expected.
I first tried searching for threads whose title included "WBB" (also by "Conn"), ordered by time, but it didn't seem to be there.
I finally found it by working backwards through the normal chronological listing, but sorted by creation date (see bottom of a
normal forum index), not date of last post.
It turns out that at least a chunk of threads at least from late 2017 apparently got indexed incorrectly as they show in the index as having 0 replies with last post "less than 1 minute ago".
As I type this, you can see that effect via
https://thecardboard.org/board/forumdisplay.php?fid=5&page=329&sortby=started
(in the future, you'll have to use a larger value for "page=")
I finally found the thread at
https://thecardboard.org/board/showthread.php?tid=14856

I think the system was migrated a few years ago, and any threads from before the migration are wonky. For example, they often show unusual characters.

How do I change the post subject to fix a typo? I have "imaging" rather than "imagining" in a post I started that's currently near the top of the Board, and I would like to fix that if at all possible!

Use the "Full Edit" pulldown option

I will remind people that you can ignore users if you desire to. Click on someone's name above a post to get to their profile page. On that page is a button to "Add to Ignore List".
Once ignored, when you read a thread, that user's posts will show up with the notation (instead of the content)
The contents of this message are hidden because <username> is on your ignore list.
There is a button "Show this post" if you want to see it anyway.
You will see their content when others quote them in a post.
When someone starts rubbing me the wrong way, I'll put them into my Ignore List.
If I don't see their post, I won't feel I have to respond.

I was confused by this, so I thought I'd post it for others.
If you do the Search (from the top of the screen, not the per-thread search), and search in titles only, the search is only through the threads, not the content of the threads. The result is shown as threads, even if you say to show the results as Posts.
As best I can tell, there is no way to search a thread for posts by a particular user, or with a date range.

I started a post on my laptop, then saved it as a draft.
Now I’m out and about on my phone but can’t seem to find a link to bring my saved draft up. How, please?

(I didn't notice this post until today)
It took some hunting to find it.
You first go to your Control Panel. At the top of the page you are looking at is "The CardBoard/More Signal * Less Noise". Under it are 4 colored buttons. The leftmost button (green, with an icon of a person) gets you to your User Control Panel.
Then the window will have a left hand column labelled Menu. Under it are 3 sections: Messenger, Your Profile, Miscellaneous
Under Miscellaneous is "Saved Drafts". You'll find your draft there.
(I'm not sure what the "Drafts" folder is under "Messenger". Mine was empty. It is confusing.)
