Bob, keep us abreast of the multis. I have much respect for them because of their abilities across the breadth of events, which require vastly different skills. The highlight of my time at TFN was going down to LA and interviewing Jackie Joyner-Kersee.

In the discus, Valarie Allman placed 8th, and Rebecca Hammar unfortunately fouled out. Top 12 go to Eugene, so Valarie goes.

No trials for the multis. On to Eugene for Tennessee Williams
Allman made it by just 2 feet.Â

Tristen Newman (Fr) is out of the running. He's currently at 36th place, and all but one of the entire fourth flight have posted better times than the rest of the first three flights (are the best-seeded throwers selected to throw last?).
Kristyn Williams (Jr) did not advance out of her 400m quarterfinal. It was top 3 from each of three quarterfinals to advance, plus the three next-best times. She was 0.47 sec away from the third-place finisher in her quarterfinal (and 0.72 sec away from the last to qualify by time).

In the women's 800m, Claudia Sanders (Jr) and Olivia Baker (Fr) both qualify for nationals. Sanders ran a 2:03.75 to finish third in her quarterfinal and third overall by time. Baker ran a 2:04.55 to finish second in her quarterfinal and eighth overall by time. Congrats!

In the men's 400m hurdles, Jackson Shumway (Jr) did not qualify for nationals. He finished last in his quarterfinal with a time of 52.81 sec (and finished 22nd out of 24). Winning time in his quarterfinal was 50 sec (rounded up from 49.996), and third place in his quarterfinal was 50.77 sec.

Thanks full metal. Almost a PR for Baker.  Katz in the SC coming up, also in the heat granddaughter of a Stanford alum.Â

In the men's 200m, Isaiah Brandt-Sims (Fr) placed fifth in his heat with a time of 21.31 sec, good for 33rd overall but not good enough to advance.
In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Danielle Katz (So) likewise was unable to advance with a time of 10:26.34. She placed 8th in her heat of 16 and 18th overall.
