Why can't I delete my own post... or admins, can you merge it with WIM's?

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working .I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. Peter Gibbons

The earth is back in orbit, commander. Sorry for the interruption.

I care about the final score being Stanford > University of Seventh Choice.
If I did care I'd rather they stay in traditional red shirt white pants. I've never been a fan of the black jerseys - and no, it's not a race thing :o

I think the division winner with the better conference record gets the home team designation. So yeah, Stanford is the home team.

So maybe it's ok to ask this question here, since everyone knows a heck of a lot more than me.
Why is it that in basketball and baseball (to name a couple), it's the "home whites" but in football, it's the home team wearing dark (even black) colors? I've always wondered about this.
Thanks for any good (and funny answers).

There's a plausible answer at the URL below, through no references are cited. It's not always white at home for basketball and baseball or on the road for football, though it often is.

Thanks for sharing the link! Very interesting, and as you point out, no references. I did write "home whites" as the phrase was often used, but I meant in general the lighter color for the home team (like yellow for LAL and GSW), and black-and-white TV makes a lot of sense (as do laundry facilities on the road for a muddier game like football). I know these days everything is more convoluted in the pros, what with throwback jerseys and the green/red color-blind game from hell.
Thanks again!
