The announcers and the Band sure had fun with it. In fact, I think the Band could find a use for the rabbit.

Wags are suggesting it was the most exciting part of what was ultimately a pretty one-sided game.
Wonder where it came from? I've spent a lot of time on the Stanford campus and don't ever recall seeing a rabbit. Could someone have brought it and released it?

I liked the locomotive whistle and the rendition of "All Right Now" when the rabbit "scored."

The Black-tailed jackrabbit is pretty common in the Bay Area. I believe there is habitat in the baylands that houses a population.

There is a small but fleeting population on campus - we watch a pair that has burrows under the landscaping in the courtyard between buildings 1 and 200 from our office windows. They love the grass and wild roses out by the Burgers of Calais. You'll see their turds on the sidewalks there all the time so one can infur rabbits down on the Farm are somewhat wordly since they apparently give a s**t about art.
Otherwise, I'm guessing the one yesterday probably got in by simply crawling or digging under the outside gate and making its way down the ramp by the visitors lockers on the east side or through one of the entrance tunnels when no one was around. The field will make for a lot of good eating.

Right, there's not much between the various fields outside and the entrance gate, and once an animal is through that gate there's not really anywhere to go but the field. At first I was perplexed by this too, but given the setup it's actually not terribly surprising that it could happen.

See them on the Dish trail all the time.
Halftime I was standing near gate 12 close to the 200+ steps leading to the upper level seats. I hear some noise behind me coming from the grassy area between the fence and the walkway circling the stadium and out shoots the rabbit! It went 3/4 of the way up the grassy area to the upper level seats near section 234 and stopped in some thick vegetation.Â

Ivan Maisel quipped,
What's the difference between that bunny running around Stanford Stadium and Bryce Love?
Oregon stopped the bunny.

Proof that Bugs was wrong, it WAS wabbit season. In fact, the duck caught the wabbit.

Oregon stopped the bunny.
The bunny ran for 200 yards and then Oregon's bench players were able to make a stop.

Scouting report on The Rabbit:
Hopping running style is unconventional but effective.Â
May not have the frame to be an every-down back; projects more as a change-of-pace back.Â
Highly elusive. Runs around, through and under tacklers.Â
One defender rarely brings him down. Must be contained and gang-tackled, then swaddled and carried off the field.Â
Good guy, highly independent and resourceful, but unlikely to qualify academically. Might end up at UNC.
