River Walk
Alamo
Drinkies at the River Walk,
Lackland Air Force Base where you'd have taken USAF basic training while trying to dodge ground combat in Vietnam or Persian Gulf
Prolly some pretty good Mexican restaurants there someplace. I defer to Cowboy Indian on that score.
(This space reserved...but it won't be for the Alamo Dome itself, that's for sure.)

Nicest Old school:Â La Fonda on Main
Most popular old school:Â La Fogata
Dive/breakfastlunchSan Antonio style:Â Original Blanco Cafe off of Hildebrand
Burger:Â Chris Madrid's (Near to Blanco Cafe)
Pan Dulce:Â Bedoy's (up the road from Blanco Cafe)
The newer stuff looks to be located around the King William area. I'm just not local enough to know which is best. Stella Public House and Blue Star pretty good off the River pub alternatives.Â

Confirmed today....staying at the old school Menger Hotel, where Teddy Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders from the ranks of South Texas cowboys. Let's have a drink at his bar downstairs.
