Updated to reflect injury to Ben Edwards, moving Malik Antoine to starter going into the Oregon game. (How glad are we now that he moved to safety.)

As far as participation in the Oregon game, there are two names that stood out to me in the game report. Both Jordan Perez and Kendall Williamson were listed as having gotten game time. Perez had been listed as injured, and Williamson is a true frosh who has hitherto not played. Now, it is possible that Perez got healthy (despite the pre-game injury report that listed him as out), and, given the new redshirt rule, it is possible that they let Williamson get some snaps, especially in light of the fact that Akina is high on him at CB (along with fellow frosh Ethan Bonner).
However, these participation reports often have errors, especially at away games. (Also, there are sometimes errors due to double-numbering, but no one else has Williamson's #29, and I am fairly sure even an inept score-keeper can differentiate Perez from his #15 number mate, Davis Mills.)
Anyway, as you review the Oregon game film for the fifth time, keep an eye out for these guys.

I moved both to "First Year" eligibility columns and adjusted numbers accordingly. The reason for the former burn is obvious. I have yet to understand the wisdom of the Wilson burn.
2) Fifth-year senior ILB Jordan Perez played against both Oregon and ND, so I removed the injury notation. Coaches have talked about the good play of Bobby Okereke, Sean Barton, and Mustafa Branch, full stop.

I am curious about this too. From what I have seen, the team plays better with Scarlett in there than with Speights in there. That said, Speights is more of a "home run threat". I think he is sort of regarded as "Bryce Love Light". Unfortunately, that hasn't really translated into production. I do think Speights has improved as a blocker on pass plays. Scarlett probably isn't going to break off many real long runs, but it seems he doesn't get stuffed as much either. I really like his bouncing to the outside in the Ogre package when things were totally plugged up at the LOS. Then again, he has seen that often enough.

Well, so far for 2018 they both have 31 carries. Scarlett for 2.5 yds/carry, Speights for 5.1.
The carries are small enough you have to use them with caution. Speights hits the hole harder and runs tougher, but is not much for patience and finding a hole. Scarlett has gotten the "short yardage" carries, so that tends to keep his average down. However, if he is allowed to "free lance" like he did against Utah, he can be a reliable back, which is what we need now.

Regarding Jordan Perez, Drew Dalman, and Donald Stewart, I don't know their status. Perez played against Oregon and ND, so I don't know if his absence against Utah was due to re-injury or poor performance or whatever. Dalman played against Oregon - started, in fact - but did not play against ND, so perhaps he is indeed injured. Stewart has not played since UCD, and I don't know why. I think it’s simple Stewart passed by others. We are recruiting very well at WR so don’t see a redshirt in Stewart’s future.
