This game is getting UGLY. Little just beaned the first batter in the 7th . . . in the head. This after Fresno St's pitcher, named Cardinal, has been smoking our batters. Fresno St fans are cat calling the ump and every Stanford batter. They are being very rude. We are still up by 2 runs.
Where can I get live stats of this game?
Little just struck out the batter for the 3rd out of the 8th. He's throwing killer sliders and hot fast balls. Three more outs and we take this one. Let's hope we can get some cushion runs in the second half of the 8th.

Congrats to the team on forcing a Game #7 tomorrow. I presume Paslich gets the start tomorrow?
Fresno is really stretched thin as far as who to start in Game #7 (it will undoubtedly be, after Hill
was used in middle relief and then ejected, someone with fewer than or equal to 3 starts tomorrow).
In any case, it will be pitching-by-committee for both teams to get to a Super Regional in Starkville.

Tomorrow will be interesting. Could be a battle of the bullpens. I’m guessing Palisch gets the start and Weiermiller and Jensen likely see some work as well. Grech should have some pitches left in the tank, too. Not ideal but I doubt Fresno’s situation looks any better. We’ll need all the offense we can muster.

Game was a fun one to be at. Energy was high on the Stanford side like I haven't seen in my two years on the farm. Fresno fans were like obnoxious opposing travel ball parents. Makes it that much more fun to win and that much more painful to lose.
Need to bring the bats out early and often tomorrow. A school like Stanford should have the kind of pitching depth a school like Fresno doesn't.

I was at the game and it was both exciting and frustrating at times, especially without getting the benefit of replays and commentating to know what's going on.
Some of the high/lowlights:

- We score in every one of the first 6 innings
- Miller is terrific through 3
- Two bad ump calls - at home and the catch in the outfield
- Two bad errors by our infield ends the night for Miller
- Why did the FSU batter in the middle of his at bat go talk to his coach for about a minute (why did the umps allow it)?
- During a Stanford at bat, the FSU infielders seemed to have a problem with the umps. Was there something commented on TV about this?
- Strong 3 inning relief from Little. He may only have 1 inning in him for tomorrow
- I'm guessing Beck will be ready for some 3 innings, if needed.
- We were aggressive on the base paths.
- At least 15 FSU pitches hit the ground before home plate. Their catcher did a great job of keeping most of them in front of him
- Play of the game for me was the double play in the seventh - strikeout and caught stealing.
- 5 ladies from the WBB team were there supporting the baseball team (Hull x 2, Carrington, Fingall, and Wilson)

To anyone that attended last night's game, did it seem like the Fresno fans were getting under our players' skin? Someone posted that it was the sloppiest game we played all year.
To anyone who has played college level baseball or better, can motivation cause sloppy play? In other words, when players are trying hard to win, do they tend to make more bad decisions or get ahead of themselves. Could this explain the aggressive base running? Or, was that a planned strategy?

I didn't attend, but after the game ended there were a few reactions that indicated the Fresno players were getting under our kids' skins. For example, while walking towards teammates after the final out Little mimed ripping his shirt open a couple of times, which Nogales had actually done after his 2-RBI double on Saturday. The Stanford kids seemed to be giving a little jawing back towards the Fresno bench after the game.
In general, I don't care much what fans do - they're just fans. That was a little tough to stick to last night, probably mostly because it seemed one particularly loud Fresno fan was seated beside the crowd-noise pickup mike. But I don't much like the heckling and umpire bating that came from the Fresno players and bench last evening - especially considering that the two critical replay checks both went Fresno's way (one of which was clearly the incorrect call). That jawing got the Fresno pitcher Hill booted, almost got the Fresno SS Aruda and 2B Dempsey booted when the umps came out to lecture them, and I thought was going to get the coach Batesole booted over the "talking to his batter" stunt he pulled in the 7th (that batter was Nogales again).
Stanford generally has been pretty aggressive on the base paths this year, so I am not sure we can attribute Kinamon's two base running outs as due to any skin-burrowing. Overall, the approach has given some extra bases and runs but also cost extra outs and runs. Not sure of the balance.

I'm glad we have a full day to calm down and rest. This is a critical time for the coach to do that coaching magic that helps his players play to their maximum potential. We should be able to beat the Bulldogs if we play our game.
