Thankfully it seems Haase is finally prioritizing shooting the ball. In his tenure, we have had very few players who were reliable shooters (Pickens may be the only one, maybe Cormac Ryan but we never saw his best). You just cannot compete these days without 3 point shooting, which can equalize physical disadvantages. Nothing was more frustrating than to watch the ball swing around to the perimeter, and then have open shots just get passed up or bricked. Floor spacing really suffered for someone like Reid Travis. The lack of shooting also showed up at the free throw line at the end of games.
I hope Jones continues to shoot the ball this well because we then potentially have 3 perimeter players in Terry, Jones and to some extent Davis who shoot it reasonably well. Hopefully with adding Taitz and Angel next year, who are reportedly good to excellent shooters, we may have something.

Add to that, Oscar recapturing his freshman shooting touch of nearly 50% shooting from 3, and we may really have something.

Funnily enough, Cormac Ryan was supposed to be a sharpshooter from 3...and by and large wasn't.
Small sample size, but Jones appears to really be a diamond in the rough late find. Credit to the staff.

Does anyone know how Cormac Ryan is doing for Marquette this year? Or does he have to sit?

Ryan was apparently hampered by a sports hernia last year, which likely affected his shooting percentage.
It's regrettable that he didn't take to Stanford. I observed (from my couch watching the games on TV) that from the outset, though he was just a freshman, he was a leader on the court. I think he's going to have a nice college career.
Here's a domer story regarding his transfer:

Wondering if the coaches would have offered Spencer Jones had Cormac stayed. If given the opportunity to have only one of them, I know which one I'd take...and he's the guy currently lighting it up for us.
