I've still been looking for the story behind the technical against Oregon State in the Stanford game. I was hoping to find post-game press conference coverage but didn't. I ran across these articles that may help understanding things.
In Feb 2018 (2 years ago), Rueck was reprimanded for comments to the media regarding the officiating in the Stanford game. From the article it sounds like his comments were quite mild:
In Mar 2019 (1 year ago), Rueck was ejected after 2 technicals in an upset by ASU. He did not comment on it.
Earlier in February (this year), Rueck expressed his concern about the physicality in his team's loss to Arizona. He also described ASU as being like a football team. He was "at a loss for words" when Stanford won at OSU, but nothing was mentioned in the article about the physicality or the foul calls.
You know, I kinda like that guy. AND, his comments about Arizona and ASU are timely for Stanford.

Quote:Following the game, Rueck was asked whether his reaction was meant to motivate his team after its slow start, or register his disagreement with officials on Gulich's foul.
"I'm trying to protect my post player from getting bad calls made against her," Rueck said. "I see it week after week."

thanks for your article. charisma osborne had 55 points in ucla's 2 games. and she wanted to come to stanford. instead we took hannah jump, who had 2 points in our 2 games.
(i have nothing against hannah, who is and will be a good player. i just like charisma, who is and will be a star. it's a real head-scratcher that we didn't take charisma. imo she'd be starting now instead of lacie and giving us the 3rd scoring option we sorely lack)

I hear what you are saying about Osborne but if our team was healthy it would be Jones or Carrington starting in place of Lacie and Osborne would be on the bench. Sometimes in recruiting we take the best available all around player (e.g. that is what Tara said about Jenna Brown) and sometimes you are recruiting for a need. And I believe Tara felt she needed knock down 3-point shooting since our offense is so 3-point shooting heavy. Osborne may be the better all around player but Jump is the better 3-point shooter (41% this season vs 33% for Osborne).

Do you know if she could have, or did, get past the admissions folks?

Based on where I sit, the technical was on an assistant coach who was barking at the official for too long. My angle could be off and it certainly could've been on Rueck for something earlier but the timing felt like it was on the assistant.

i don't know, but she played for vanessa nygaard, who knows the stanford admissions criteria quite well. pretty confident vanessa would have told her not to bother visiting if her chances were slim. plus tara went to watch her play (see link below). my guess is that, as bob said, we - pardon the expression - jumped on hannah very early as tara loves a 3-point ace. so it became charisma or haley for the 2nd guard spot. osborne may not be quite the gunner hannah is, but 6/14 from three last weekend is over 40%.
story from a year ago on tara, vanessa, charisma and hannah

by the way, the reason i have been following charisma and posting about her is that charisma and tara publicly voiced so much mutual interest that i got my hopes up.
