No, but you would rather make those mistakes when up by 15+ points late in the fourth than in a tight game. Hope we use this as a learning opportunity and revel at holding the bruins to 51.

...and the answer is, we can! We win 67-51, and while we gave up a run to UCLA we scored a respectable 17 to the UCLA 20 in the 4th.

The second half was a whole different ballgame. Stanford kept up the defense while finding a lot more that worked on offense!

And kudos to Anna. She was brobdingnagian, defensively in general, in relief of Lacie, also providing breaks for Kiana, and scoring as well. Also Fran -- great work in the post, rebounds . . . and scoring. And Nadia for rebounding. It was a real team effort.

We had an appalling 21 turnovers. Fortunately, so did UCLA. Still, we ought to be able to do better than that.
We had 26 points off turnovers to their 14. Their turnovers hurt them more than ours did.
We had 15 O-boards, but gave up 20 to UCLA. There is certainly room for improvement there. We had 11 O-boards in the first half and 4 in the second--our aggression seems to have waned.
Both sides were 5/8 free throws. A typical Missy Barlow slugfest. There were several stolen balls on both sides that should have been called tie-ups or fouls, and a lot of contact was allowed. But they did call the moving screens, on both sides.
Individually, Lexie has certainly emerged from her slump. 28 points on better than 50% shooting, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists. I suppose I should mention the 7 turnovers--that is a lot--she made.
Williams was the only other player in double digits, and all her points came in the 2nd half--12. She had 5 assists and only 1 turnover--outstanding against UCLA.
Fingall and Belibi played well, Dodson not so much offensively, and Prechtel hardly played.
Anna Wilson got 29 minutes, Lacie 12 minutes, and Wilson clearly helped to spell Williams on offense and Lacie on defense. She also scored 5 points. A good game for her.

Congratulations to our team and coaches for taking it to the Bruins. They played smart and confidently for most of the game and deserved the win. Let’s hope they travel well and get to host a couple of games in Maples in two weeks. I look forward to seeing all of you at the games with elbows extended!

Real nice win and good to let Ucla know that Stanford is still the big dog despite Ucla's rise in the past few years. Also good start to the ""revenge tour" for MBB too (other than we want to beat Ucla again).
Fairly straightforward though. If our team plays like it did in the first three quarters vs OSU and 3rd Q vs Ucla, we will beat Oregon. Play like we did in the 4th quarters in both games and Oregon wins.
What I saw vs OSU when we did well, lots of movement on offense with crisp, quick, accurate passes. and good spacing. And obviously good shooting makes a difference. On D, it was the first time that this year that I saw such urgency and tight defense, denying passes, challenging shots, and swarming in general. They largely carried it over into the Ucla game, especially on defense, just not as much energy which could be expected being the second game in two days. But when we stand around on O and our PG spends most of the shot clock dribbling around (and worse when we don't watch the shot clock), the O goes flat. Bad D when we don't pressure.
So we will see which team shows up

Really gratified by this win after UCLA kind of took it to us last month. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see the game yesterday and stupidly neglected to DVR it -- does anyone know if they're replaying it anywhere? I've looked all over the PAC-12 Networks' schedules and although they're replaying all the first-round games later today, I don't see any replay of this game scheduled anywhere. Thanks! GO CARDINAL!
