LOOK ALIVE, PEOPLE! 6:30pm PST on ESPN2. We open favored by 1.5.
Quick notes/primer on Alabama:
- They are expected to make the tournament, picked preseason 5th in what should be a very competitive SEC.
- They return 3-4 starters and another important rotational piece or two.
- Their big name grad transfer, an All-Ivy center from Yale, had a pretty bad game in their creampuff opener, scoring 4 points and committing 3 PFs. He got the start but 2 returners ended up playing more minutes (hence "3-4 starters" above).
- Similarly to us, they had their stud PG declare early - he was drafted #13. However, they have undergrad transfer Jahvon Quinerly from Villanova stepping right into the PG role. That's the one position that concerns me on our offensive side; defensively, Daejon Davis can lock the PG down.
- Also like us, they run small. Their tallest rotational player, the grad transfer from Yale, is 6'9"/10".
Should be a real good one. Hell of an opening test, that's for sure.
