Wept openly at the "Wanna have a catch" line in Field of Dreams; and of course, the Billy D praising "Pic" when playing Gale Sayers.
And Lex, I can pretty much recite every line in Hoosiers:
"Progress. Progress is electricity, school consolidation . . . and indoor plumbing."
"My team is on the floor."
"I'll make it!"
Same for The Natural - don't even get me started ("I should have been a farmer," "kinda fond of nanny goats I am," "Can't spell it, but it sure eats good.").
Back to Hoosiers, Shooter is WAY underappreciated in Hoosiers:
"I know everything there is to know about the greatest game ever invented."
"And boys, don't get caught watching the paint dry."
But my favorite Shooter line was when we first met him in the diner when he is panhandling the school principal for some coin (and his son makes him "give it up!"). Specifically, when Shooter learns that Hackman is new Coach Dale, he says to the principal (and coach):
"Did you tell him? Sectionals in '33. One point down. Five . . . four . . . three . . . two . . . one. I let 'er fly!
In and out. [And then, almost imperceptibly]. Yeah, well . . . I was fouled."
The fouled part was brilliant! (And what every hoopster thinks after a miss!).
There is another scene in the movie where Hopper says another line under his breath. Think it's when Hackman is telling Shooter to dry out and "come along for the ride."
Hackman: ". . . after what Jimmy did the other night, it would take the Indiana National Guard to keep me away."
Hopper: [Under breath] "There's a shocker."
Something like that. It was hilarious.
